Great to see flat screen option was voted by majority and by a good margin too. People here still have sense is really incredible to see.

Hands down flat screen is better. I mean sure, curved screens look beautiful but I don’t find it useful. I sometimes accidentally touch it when I’m gaming and it increases the price cost if i want to replace the screen.

I bought galaxy S9 (first time Samsung user), the phone is amazingly good, except the curved screen and Samsung UI.

So how do you use curved screen one handed ? Your thumb navigation will have the finger hand side touching the curved edge and then screws up what you want to do on the screen.

I would rather see a flat screen with a sleek tapered body like HTCs Older One S and rounded smooth frame to glass transition.

>...the screens get bigger and bigger, resulting in phones that are hard to carry in pockets and hold in hand.
FINALLY someone other than me noticed this. STOP the huge phones! Make the smartphones small and COMPACT again!

Curved screens are a pain in the ass. I'm not happy with trying to find a screen protector that won't lift off a phone. I usually go with RhinoShield Impact Protection screen protectors, but they don't make them curved. And whether they're film or tempered glass, those screen protectors are useless. And I'm not spending $50 on a Whitestone Dome, on top of $1000 +$80 state tax on an already fragile all-glass phone, and $50-80 more dollars on a maximum protection case to try and protect said phone. It's all ridiculous. Bring back flat screens!

Curved screens look nice, but only for the people that are glimpsing at your phone.
For the person that's actually using it it's a worse experience.

I prefer flat. But flat flagships are a species that is almost extinct. Those witha headphone jack are the rarest. So I guess you have to accept it and move on.
Or you know... get an old flagship at almost 1/4 the price that still works just great and much better than all/most midrange phones. My S7 says hi even though it didn't cost me 1/4 the price!

Curved screens are not a gimmick, they're an idiocy:
- expensive to buy initially
- expensive to repair
- impossible to protect while keeping good-looking (or at all)
- provide no functionality, just looks
- make the phone more slippery
- make the phone more fragile (no bezel to take the hit)
- increase glare/reflections issues
Other than that, they're phine ;-p

People should never buy a phone with curved edges. They should never buy a phone with a poor battery life. They should never buy a phone with a $1000 price tag on it. They should never buy phones demonstrating very strange design ideas such as camera at the bottom or glass back. But unfortunately they do.

Curves look good, add to the bezel-less design and besides, Samsung's recent curves are not that pronounced as they used to be on the "edge models" (S6 edge Note edge etc.).
Having said that, I absolutely prefer flat screens. Same reason why I hate notches. The closer the screen is to a perfect flat rectangle, the better.

Although i agree that curved screens are beautiful, i must admit that they're very unpractical & troublesome. You have to hold the phone from the corners just to avoid unwanted touches to the screen. It's just a unpleasant experience. The only way to overcome that is to put a case on it, which hides the curved part of the screen & kills the point of having a curved display phone in the first place.

Curved (edge) screens breaks like icebox. In my role as a sales manager at mobile service company everyday I see at least one Samsung S6E/S7E/S8/S9/Note8 that has screen cracked. And repairs are just too expensive. I personally would never buy edge screen devices.

Curved screens is just useless ugly gimmick like notches. If you are bad in ideas and design but pretending to be unique - you do such things.
