Huawei found tampering with benchmark results, says it had to

05 September 2018
An official said competitors do it too, so the company “cannot stay silent”.

Basically huawei is saying that everybody does it so we're doing it too, admitting to the problem and then propagating it. Such a pathetic company.

H-1, 06 Sep 2018You beat me to it XDHehehe

Same as with cars, where they all lie about the distances pr. liter/gallon, really weird... we all know it and its accepted... Really a strange world i must admit.

We know Nokia, Apple, HTC, Samsung, and many others did it and probably every other company has lied somewhere on the way, we just didn't have the chance to discover it.

Cmon guys... all smartphone brand have giving all of us a nasty lie or 2. Same is in all other branch.
So no big deal, the difference here is they admit it, not everyone does that.
No big deal, they still making damn good phones with good power as most other brand does.

My phone is not a Huawei, but i had a Mate 8 in the past, really nice phone.

Benchmarks give a rough idea about performance in certain scenarios, but lower doesn't always mean bad nor higher always means good.

Cheating in benchmark results, however, is bad as it skews the consumer's views.

Back to my story: after losing so much money jumping between flagships, I settled for a budget Padfone E which has 20k antutu results... It doesn't stutter much and I barely do any gaming on it so it fits my usage. It's been with me for 3 years or so which is longer than any flagship I've owned (save for the HTC HD2).

So my point is, benchmarks help you choose your next phone, but depending on your usage lower isn't always bad. You could save a few bucks in the process.

Sony was sued because of the commercials where you can sumerge an Xperia to record video, but they refused the warranty when the water damaged the phone.
That's why you dont see those ads anymore.

Also, lol @ the comment saying Qualcomm doesnt do it. Of course not, but the OEMs that use Qualcomm do it. OnePlus was caught doing it.

i get why they're doing it and although pointing fingers at others is a lame excuse, they do have a point. benchmark results really don't represent the expected user experience, they merely measure peak performance, which most people rarely need, if ever. i bought an SD835 phone recently and its performance is as smooth as it gets. the SD845 might be more powerful on paper and perhaps boost a buyer's confidence, but i doubt i'd notice any difference unless i deliberately pushed it to the limit

Huawei admits their phones are underpowered.
Huawei is now banned from my consideration list, along with BBK.
Somebody should sue them. They use those fake numbers to promote their phones. That's illegal.

To be honest all the companies do that except Qualcomm because they show low numbers compared to the competition, but I don't know about the new SD855.
Apple same Tampers with the numbers and that's why they sell. I knew apple was lairs from the beginning because when any phone compares to them in a speedtest, Apple loses.
