Every mid range to flagship phone is gaming phone. Even 2 year old flagship android phone can play like every game of playstore.
Unless they gonna release phone with new os or exclusive game and physical gaming trackpad it just gimmick.

NO we don't need gaming phones because every smartphone out there is a gaming phone with they do with their graphics specially in the chips. So all those gaming smartphones got released are stupid really.

Thesis86, 10 Sep 2018Only voted "yes" because at least with gaming phones, I don... moreYou either have 270k benchmark or 300k but you will not make any difference if you play same game. No performance difference in games at least. Screen might be different story but still amoled screens should offer good picture too

The reason I want Sony to make the next gaming phone is because of their exclusives. God of War and Spider-Man, it's a great time to be a PS4 owner. Hasn't succeeded in handhelds like Nintendo has but Sony is currently the king of consoles.

          I love the PlayStation brand.

even mid-ranged phones can be a gaming phone, so

Only voted "yes" because at least with gaming phones, I don't see notches, I see headphone jacks and I see focus on cooling. The ROG's phones preliminary SD 845 numbers were by far, the best. And that external cooler probably pushes its performance closer to that of the iPhone X. I'd get a gaming phone for the improved focus on cooling.

xXENDER FREAKXx, 10 Sep 2018Ikr, "gaming" smartphones are just smartphones with a top-o... moreEvery phone can be a gaming phone.
They're just adding the hype for millennials.

Kingslayer, 10 Sep 2018A successor to the Xperia Play and PS Vita by Sony would be nice.Same here!
My Xperia Play dies because not of the motor issues, but the touchscreen died. :(

I hope they can increase the durability of the successor!

Flagship is jack of all trades. Slim, high tier specs, etc etc.

So-call gaming phones should have different focus.. like more batteries, fatter more easy to hold formfactor, cooling features, controllers adapters.

Current gaming phones lacks much difference from a normal flagship, thus people see its redundant.

This is just a gimmick. They need something new to convince us to buy their overpriced crap. I don't buy it, as well as I don't buy a phone just because it has the latest chipset, some fancy pen, a notch, a very high display resolution, thousands if cameras, or any other gimmick. I need a phone with a decent performance, strong battery life and a good camera. The rest is just useless.

in my opinion we don't need all that power from flagship SoC actually any SOC from SD450 with Average benchmarks can run any game between 720p and 1080p and multitasking is rare on Android mobile (you rarely see phones with multiwindow or non background multitasking ready) and nearly non existent on iPhones (even with thare incredible power) we just need a phone with high GPU power and midcore CPU and low power SoC and big batterys and gripy light inbody (plastic) or heat spreading metal (Aluminum) and good selfe for streaming with 16:9 for 1080p or 1440p with flagship SOC or 720p 18:9 is a sweetspot and good stereo speakers
Zenfone Max pro and Xiaomi Redmi 5/4note pixel 2 are good options
simply gaming phones are the replacement for portable Consoles but gaming flagship? if you don't have a specific flagship grade video game or a multitasking tablet (with flagship SoC then all that speed and RAM will be use less (just like A11 BIONIC)
a Average SoC with gripy Aluminum inbody and dual stereo speakers (a single front facing is enough) big lithium poly battery and adjustable 1080p 18:9 is more then enough
over powered flagship SoC with extra tall battery consuming QHD+ slow refrashing ghosting OLED display (or even worst 1080p display) with small batterys and 8GB of pointless RAM with slippery heavy and heat reflecting Glass sandwich and no multitasking gestures and power hungry media apps with unsupported exclusive features or a point less low end tablet with weak SoC is a big NOOO

There is nothing that really justifies the "gaming" branding. It doesn't offer anything more than any regular flagship.

Plus mobile games are ad-filled trash

Pricing your game even at $0.99 is considered overpriced by most of the mobile gaming community.

A successor to the Xperia Play and PS Vita by Sony would be nice.
