Ah, changing your narrative, I see.
I'll simply back up my original statement. Samsung phones are a prime example. Feature rich, above average batteries (hell, Note9 has a 4000mAh battery ffs), dual cameras, now also have stereo speakers, has IP68 water proofing, fast charging, wireless charging, heart rate sensor, fingerprint scanner, face unlock/IRIS scanner, has the best display in the industry, has a MicroSD slot, has expandable storage, etc. ALL WHILE KEEPING THE HEADPHONE JACK!
Same goes with LG phones.
So take your "buh buh moar stufz" BS elsewhere. I'm not buying it.

Are you sure about that?
https://twitter.com/getp... moreTwitter polls are, by their very nature, self-selective and centered around the echo-chamber they get posted in. They have absolutely no relevance to the general population that buy phones.
And are you telling me you need citations that international corporations use market researchers to examine the market demands and how to maximise the market potential for their products? You may be part of a tiny screaming minority, but the majority doesn't care. Sales are unaffected by the port removal.

Crackling Doom, 14 Sep 2018...What?I informed you how Apple utilised the space from removing the 3.5 mm port (245 mAh battery, waterproofing and a massive Taptic Engine). They added this without changing the dimensions a single millimeter from the iPhone 6s to iPhone 7.
You claimed you can get the space for these things without removing the 3.5 mm port, and that various Android manufacturers showed this.
Now I'm asking you to post a single Android device that has managed to add as much into a phone from generation to generation, while not changing the dimensions of the device or removing the 3.5 mm port.

paco2x, 13 Sep 2018Alex jones got what he deserves... harassing the families o... moreYes, it was also up-to a court of law to take very justifiable action (which was -- and still is -- long due), but that simply isn't what happened. Ergo, censorship must be called-out, as that is exactly the term that must be used when those who claim to be an "open forum" (legal term) start removing content without a judicial order or the permission of the one posting it.
Mind you, I actually believe that if no shortcuts were taken and due process was followed then Alex Jones should have been held responsible and taken down for good. Instead we get this, vigilante justice from those that not so long ago claimed they couldn't censor-out content as that was not their role (as "open forum" operators).
Talk about a country going down the drain!

At least, unlike Samsung, it doesn't come with as much bloat (coming from me using the LG V20) but I'm glad launchers can ease the pain from both phones. I don't like the notch either but if the rest of the specs on paper sway me (6GB RAM, MicroSD card slot, beefier battery, Quad-DAC, Stereo Speakers, 2K display, and QuickCharge 4), I can suck it up.

OneMinus. Poco F1 just came out with a headphone jack, micro sd slot, IR FR€@KING BLASTER, STEREO SPEAKERS, awesome cameras, 6 GB OF RAM, all with 4,000 MaH battery AND $300 price tag, yet they instead removed the jack, gave a silly excuse, and AT LEAST would cost TWÌCE as much! Hahahahha OneMinus indeed!

These massive international corporations have a ton of market researchers. They have concluded the demand for a 3.5 mm port is so low that they may as well remove it and use the space for other things.
And this discussion was about what could be gained from the removal, of which we have one very good example in the shape of the iPhone 7. A device that literally has the exact same dimensions as the previous generation, with one small detail: it traded the 3.5 mm port for other things.

FinnishInquisition, 14 Sep 2018None of those devices have kept the same volume from previp... moreI can bet you that a majority of users will tell you that they would rather have the 3.5mm jack instead of marginally useful features like a big 'taptic engine'. You are sacrificing a major feature for a niche feature which barely adds value to the product apart from being 'cool'.
And no, 400 -500 mah of extra battery capacity doesn't do it either. Poll after Poll on different websites have shown that a majority (65% plus) users PREFER to have a 3.5mm port, which makes sense as literally all other personal electronics goods have it. Consoles, High end audio systems, Cars, Televsions, pocket media players.. You name it.
Your justification is not convincing at all, at least to me. Its a stupid stupid trend that has been blindly adopted by spineless android OEMs for some reason. I don't want to be carrying around a bloody adapter everywhere i go. Neither do i want to worry about having my bluetooth airpods or whatever they call it now charged up for use, that too for vastly inferior sound quality.
All the arguments in favour of removing the headphone jack are superfluous...
- Increased battery life -- Really? Redmi Note series has some of the biggest batteries around and it has a headphone jack. At the high end, Smasung offers a headphone jack, waterproofing and an SD card slot, not to mention a vastly superior display.
- Bigger SOC - Don't need a "big" soc when I cant do anything with the phone apart from curated apps from apple. I cannot use emulators, or use generic USB peripherals, or properly access the file system, or copy media to my local memory, or attach a mouse and many more. The big cpu is of little use in a highly restricted OS with no real multitasking.
- Taptic engine - This is a new one. Already addressed this. Not worth the tradeoff.
- SLim design - This is the worst one of all.

As for the stranger parts video, he drilled away large parts of the chassis, chiseled the 3.5 mm port down to a skeleton, removed a vent, compromised the screen (it kept breaking) and ruined any chance of water resistance. That's not exactly a viable solution.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 have the EXACT SAME DIMENSIONS. The difference is how that volume has been used. The iPhone 7 ditched the 3.5 mm port and gained a twice as big Taptic Engine, waterproofing and 245 mAh battery.
