One fewer: the OnePlus 6T will not have a headphone jack, Carl Pei confirms

13 September 2018
It's official, folks. OnePlus even unveiled a version of its Bullets V2 headphones with USB-C as the 3.5mm model is going the way of the dodo.

I think it's time to adapt this trend.
Companies are doing it. Samsung and LG are the last survivors on this era.

Anonymous, 13 Sep 2018It's almost like somebody is dictating all those companies ... moreI believe what you're looking for is called "market researchers". The 3.5 mm port usage is in a rapid decline, so it's better to just build a phone without one and use the space for something else.

I have a 3.5 mm port on my phone and haven't used it for something like 2 years. Bluetooth is so much more convenient with a phone. I use the 3.5 mm port on my computer and laptop nearly every day though.

Huawei cheating on benchmarks, boosting their phones to deliver double the real performance of their phones and they say ''We cheat because everyone is doing it''.
Sony removes headphone jack and says: ''Everyone is doing it, so we did it too''.
One Plus: “Making a great phone doesn't mean putting every component available into the device.” Then What makes a good phone!!?

                    Mobile devices world sicks me.

.alpha, 13 Sep 2018OnePlus is expensive enough it no longer target poor people... moreYour comment is discriminatory and untrue.

"Poors" can get cheap BT headphones just fine like they can find cheap wired headphones. It's not a problem to afford one of those today anymore. However wired headphones are undeniably better. The most expensive headphones are wired, not wireless. Plus they are more durable, always ready to use, battery-efficient and sound better thanks to 0-latency lossless audio. Not even the best BT headphones can achieve just that

What a stupid decision , what a joke ! We live in a world where what is useful dies and what is stupid and useless becomes useful ... but considering that the tards from today are asking for this, OEM's are offering it. Curious to see how much it will last until even more features will disappear ...

Even though i have wireless headphones. They are pathetic when it comes to gaming(PUBG mainly). I use my wired headphones while gaming. I also charge during that time. I thought maybe i ll buy one plus 6t as my next phone. Shud look elsewhere.

I'm afraid that midrangers in the last few years all have almost flagship features of yesteryears. So in a few years we might have jacks disappearing along with expandable storage and some other nifty things from the midrange section :(

Kangal, 13 Sep 2018So now Samsung is the only OEM left that offers OLED, No no... moresamsung S9 has also stereo speakers, so its not true that stereo is missing by samsung, i think almost perfect 100% flagship this year 2018 for me, if it would had also built in front fingerprint sensor inside/under display it will be most amazingly flagship ever of the world..only that one feature is missing and it will be most perfect and awesome phone ever! ..i think that most amazingly flagship ever with all those features will be galaxy S10!!! i feel it in the air already, im 100% sure! and hope very close will be also xiaomi mi mix 3!but there will be missing sadly 3,5 jack i think, same like by OP6T

OnePlus is expensive enough it no longer target poor people so no need to keep 3.5mm jack around.

No SD card and now no Headphone jack?

OnePlus is just another "locked in" manufacturer now. Less features and increasing prices.

It was always annoying having to pay more for extra memory but now they are taking away the 3.5mm jack? I was waiting for the 6T to upgrade from my Windows Phone
