19 September 2018

Alex, 19 Sep 2018Just updated the 5s to ios12, one thing I noticed is the ne... moreobviously you dont own any iphones. measure app is not installed on iphones that are not compatible by default and it will not appear on the app store for you to download if your iphone does not support it.

so why dont you just dream you android phone updates to the latest version of android.

There is always a trade-off between iOS vs Android.
Better optimization, better aftermarket support, longer software update support, better third-party accessories support, and better ecosystem OR more versatility, options, cheaper, and a more open ecosystem?

I generally pick the latter. As much as I love my SE which is better than the 5s, I still prefer using my Essential Phone or LG G5 as my daily drivers. I'm just more comfortable using Android. Tethering on iOS just seems more complicated than it should. I also would need to jailbreak an iPhone to use iBlacklist and match things what Android can already do out of the box.

For me, Upgrading too much OS on your old phones it's just like changing the UI (Like MiUI 10) because the newest OS it optimized for newest phones too.

yes i am. i think the iOS 12 make the 5s running more smootly and about battery life it's still rocking!

IOS 7 was controversial?? I loved IOS 7! IOS 9+ all look ugly IMHO.

if it still works , why not ?

                    TL:DR - Yes, but barely.

I think need professional tester to try i use 5s.5 days before ios 12 launch i can still feel slow because ios 11, but after ios 12 launch i can not feel any slow but easy crash when makeing call phone still same until i am upgrade to 12 make it prety rare.i think apple design their new phone prety bad after i see spec what they sold xs modem with note 8 more fast in white i do not know real test xs with note 8 you can compare and see different spect last year note 8 more still juicy than xs(i hope gsmarena do not false write lol).

The AR kit is only available from 6s onward.
The 5s and 6 (to much less degree) doesnt have the GPU computational power thats needed.

Just updated the 5s to ios12, one thing I noticed is the new Measure app won't work with it, it says something like 'this app requires capabilities not supported by this device', say, AR. :(

The best tech reviewer for something like this is Nick Ackerman.

                                    5s vs 6 vs SE on iOS12
                                    https://youtu.be/9H-d2d3bgIQ

iOS12 update could be the best iOS update since iOS6. Instead of making iOS bloated and slower, Apple decided to follow what Google did with KitKat, Marshmallow, Nougat, etc. Make it faster.

While iOS12 is great, I still find Android Pie better. PiP for YouTube and Netflix is awesome. The notifications still feel superior with Android. The touch gestures is something I've embraced since webOS.

The iPhone SE is my favorite iPhone of all-time by far. It took the 5s design but minus the chamfered edges. The chamfered edges makes the 5s look more bling-bling but it's easier to scratch or ding. It took pretty much most of the 6s internals as well except Touch ID and the front camera.

The 5s was already crippled in 2013 when it was released because Apple has always been stingy with RAM. When my HTC One M7 already had 2 GB of it, the iPhone didn't get it until two years later with the 6s. This is why I might now consider the XS over XR. I need as much RAM to future-proof it better.

I did try using my SE as a GPS yesterday. It drains much faster on battery than my Moto E4! I really, really want the Apple Watch Series 4. It's getting rave reviews but I can't stand that I need to update my SE to iOS12 to pair it. Android will always be my favorite OS but they don't have a smartwatch equivalent to the AWS4.

MY THREE FAVORITE PHONES EVER -
                                      Essential Phone
                                      LG G5
                                      Apple iPhone SE

Sometimes I would flip flop between Essential and G5 for #1. They're both more like 1 & 1A. Android will always be my #1 for mobile OSes. They're just more worth it and capable for me even with the jank. Still better than the overrated, overpriced Apple egosystem.
