My ideal phone screen is still a 5" 16:9 display. I had a 5" Nexus 5, followed by a 5" Pixel and now I have a 5.8" Galaxy S8 and even though the size of the phone remains the same, the fact that I can't really reach all 4 corners of the screen is annoying. I get it that phone companies can stuff a larger 5.8" screen in the same body size as a last gen 5" phone but why not stuff a 5" screen into an even smaller body. Remember when Steve Jobs came on stage every year with the new iPod that was "33% smaller and 40% lighter" than last years model, that's exactly what I want to see happen to phones.

Actually, any device bigger than 6 inch is Phablet while more than 7 inch is a tablet...but OEMs are manufacturing 7.12 inch screen and calling it a phone ??? You just make anything and call it a phone. And no one , not even one reviewers or websites have discussed pointed out this. Why???

Bigger screens (6.0" and above) would have been OK if the aspect ratios STAYED THE SAME at 16:9. However, they're getting narrower and narrower, and taller and taller: 18:9, 18.5:9,18.9:9, etc. What's next? 21:9? The improvement in user viewing experience has consequently actually suffered and gone down. We have bigger phones but the photos still look the same size or even smaller (with the narrowest of aspect ratios) Full page desktop webpages which looked very good in older older 6.0"-6.4" 16:9 phones look very cramped in the newer 18:9, 6.0" phones. Landscape browsing of webpages has become a horrendous experience. Youtube videos (mostly 16:9) are smaller in portrait mode and are heavily letterboxed or cropped in landscape mode, defeating the purpose of a bigger screen. Keyboard entry, reading and playing games is absolutely devoid of ergonomics with fingers reaching farther on the topmost part of the screen in portrait or finger reaching farther on the center of the screen in landscape mode. A definite step backwards not just in the phone display itself but also when the phone screen is mirrored to 16:9 tv's. We need trendsetting manufacturers to bring back 16:9.

Yes, we need a choice of phone/screen size, me, I still like using my original Samsung gtp1000 tablet as a phone, I only have smallish hands, but even back in the days of early smartphones, se800/910i - - tytn2 etc I never used just one hand, they were more expensive then than today, specially as a percentage of a low income, chance of dropping too high and one hand use just doesn't work for me, I loathe tiny bezel phones, and silly tall skinny ratio screens, a silly idea, there's no media made in that ratio, so it's a bodge by phone makers, I was constantly told by most on here that phones and screens would not keep getting bigger and bigger until we get to foldable or expandable screens, well history has proved me right, the reason why, those with the most money to spend on devices are not young fan boys but the middle aged, 40+ and getting older, eyesight getting worse, bigger screens easier to use,,far too many folk buy over speced phones, too much grunt, too small battery, most don't ever use the grunt available, but would love more battery, but insist, for snobbery, that they need top spec device, just to watch you tube, fb etc etc, how many ever use more than 50% of available grunt, vet few, new mobiles have cpu/gpu grunt equivalent to a laptop from 5 years ago, how many folk need/use that grunt, not many, but too many pay too much for performance that is wasted..Me I want proper palm pc, that runs desktop os's when needed to,I want a new top spec equivalent of the legendary HTC hd2, the only big selling mobile device that can run full x86 code and desktop os's, just slowly, nobody will build one and the future will be Googles evolved chrome os, what ever it ends up being called, giving alphabet even more control of billions of peoples/business's data and lives, not a good scenario...

They are getting too narrow and too tall at the same time. Anything over 18:6 is too big and too small at the same time, not suitable for both people who want a big screen and people who want a compact phone.

Whatever size it may be enjoy them while they are exist. The day apple will make Iglasses (copy google glasses) and will shout about innovation. Smartphone displays may srink . ARglasses will happen but how they affect smartphone can't be judged now(2018) ridiculous costly flagships will die but they will always have better camera and display and bigger battery, will co-exist. The way laptops exist in smartphone world

Not really. When one buys a smartphone today, one tries most of the jobs on the phone itself that would otherwise require multiple hardware which would be inconvenient for most of us today in this busy world. This is why we need a larger real estate on screen. With the current technology, bezel free display is a no-brainer, which keeps the phone size reasonable. Yes, it still compromises portability, but that is almost negligible compared to the pros achieved.

I actually want more 16:9 phones back. 18:9 makes the phone too small and more difficult to operate. I am searching for a large phone so I can see content and minimize eye strain. Ain't nothing affordable out here

Remember the days when people used tablets to make calls and they were made fun of because of the tray sized gadget in their faces?
We are so getting there. Just a few more bleats and marches to the slaughterhouse. Keep going.

But having a 3300mAh battery is great, as there are only mid range specs to power. And yes, I type like I'm "in 2011", because I don't want to have to install a third party app to do the swiping thing. And it's also not as accurate as pressing every individual key.
