Kirin 980 is a beast even if not clocked to its highest potential. I mean they have kept the clock speeds a lot lower than the upper limit of a76 but still able to achieve this much high score. Great!!

Huawei is the only one that can compete with the Apple A chipsets

Kirin chipsets by Huawei are the best Android has.

You can talk about the benchmark boosting but every company has done that including samsung.

In real world performance, Huawei flagships stay fast overtime and dont slow down like other phones

I was expecting this lead from the Kirin 980. Remember SD845 and Exynos 9810 were announced early this year. Now let's see what these companies can come up with in about 3 months. They need to raise their game enough to at least equal the A12.

Kind of excited Coz I think the new exynos chip will bring the SD 855, the Kirin 980 and even the new A12 in multimode xD

                  yep
just guessing based on a recent developments and incredible progress in past few years that ishit soon will be outclassed by Kirin in performance

I don't really care about the Benchmarks as everyone uses Thier phones diffently, that never determine whether I should get a phone or not

Shadocx, 01 Oct 2018We all understood that you dislike Snapdragon, you defendin... moreits another way around actually...many sd lovers actually hate kirin, dont really know why. i love kirin, but im also love sd, thats why i have them both at home.

why u need to compare to next year released phone with sd855? then u shud also need to compare to next year kirin@mate series? the cycle, wont end.

at the moment, we have to except kirin 980 is the most superior soc in android on 16 oct 2018.

and next year, we have to except in February(may assumption), galaxy s10 n mi 9 with sd 855 and exynos 98xx will be taking the throne. but it wont be the same as kirin 970 vs exynos 9810 vs sd845, cuz now, the gap(tech), isnt as big as kirin 970 vs those 2.

for others and non huawei kirin 970 user that talk about cheating, 1st, read the joint statement of ulbenchmark n huawei. goto ulbenchmark, incase u dont trust huawei news section.

btw, the performance mode is already accessible manually since honor view 10 released to the world(last year, before gpu turbo make it scene). but its only limited to games n certain apps that u add in the games suite. not all or global setting. and dont be confused with gpu turbo and performance mode cuz both are diff. u dont need to turn on gpu turbo, its there... but performance mode, yes.

but still, kirin 970 wont beat sd845 in raw perfromance, and kirin 980 wont beat sd855 raw performance(if year vs year soc basis, sd855 shud be compare with kirin 990 though).

why kirin 980 wont beat sd855? look at the cores clock speed, if huawei want to br the master of speed, they already use max clock a76 can achieve, 3.2ghz x 4, but they used 2.6ghz x 2 and 1.92ghz x 2.

why they do that? i dont really know, may assumption, in mobile arena, sustained performance and battery efficiency is what u shud target.

u can get high performance cpu as exhibit in exynos 9810 vs sd845, but in the end, the efficiency goes to u know which one.

Anonymous, 01 Oct 2018Outclasses competition by cheating on benchmark scores as a... moreSo if Apple and Samsung does it, then it is ok. But, when any Chinese brand does it, blah blah blah blah blah. Double standard.

Nick Tagataka, 01 Oct 2018"beats in sustained CPU performance" "beats in speed tests... morejust a bit correction here.

1st,they dont overclock the cpu, nor the gpu. u can read anandtech why they r okay with mate 10 results in benchmark vs honor play results, even both produce nearly the same score

2nd, im a bit worried i benchmark, where kirin 980 stand.

why, because of flex scheduling, if u watch on kirin 980 launch, the cpu scheduling is totally diff, not the same.

meaning, if benchmark detected, they will run as per heavy games scheduling. according to ulbenchmark, that all apps shud behave the same, using same scheduling... if not, it is consider breaking the rules.

that will poise a problem to huawei, unless they have a talk with ulbenchmark on how it shud be.

Based on my own observation, whether or not Huawei has cheated on benchmarks or boosted the score for each device, it doesn't make any difference to real life usage because they're really fast, nothing to argue about their SoCs.
I'm not a Huawei smartphone user but it's just an observation from few of my friends who own a Huawei device.

Even it the bench scored doesnt smash the a12 its close enough.
Now to the claim it's better we have to wait and see. It's possible it still has more sustained performance and efficiency just like s845 vs a11.

Abhi Dahiya, 01 Oct 2018Dayum! You are such a baby. Couldn't even reply to the real... morewell... ulbenchmark disagree with u though, they agree with huawei, thats why the joint statement is between ulbenchmark n huawei...

Kirin 980 has the same amount of transistors as the a12, so I am expecting the real life performance to be better. Not to mention the dual NPU, the 5g bands, and the much more power effecient GPU compared to it's previous generation, I am pretty excited for it, not because I am a fan of Huawei, but technology in general.

Congratulations to them. Meantime snap 845 and 710 is way more power than most need for a phone and 855 is about out. I'm still running 617 and it's zippy. But good on you nonetheless.
