They are perfect for taking expansive images of landscape or tourist attractions, even at the cost of the slight distortion. That's the reason why all reviewers (including this site) have unanimously praised LG's wide angle cameras and questioned the usefulness of the monochrome sensor.

Even with the lack of the Bayer filter to let in more light, other implementations have shown to be better a low-light photography without having a monochrome sensor.

However P20 pro got advantage in low lights because of the monochrome sensor that catches 3x more lights than rgb. No, i'm not talking about the Night mode but just using Auto. Processing and newer lens helps improve in details & sharpness (although with AI on it looks overprocessed).

Give me a sample of 808 vs P20 pro in low lights to prove your words and i'll be satisfy.

It is just that the picture is very raw and unprocessed.. You can take bracketed HDR images in low light and stack it manually.. And the end result will always blow even the mighty P20 Pro off the ground.. I still have mine with me.. With the correct settings you could even take pictures of the stars and the moon in the night sky with clear details (you can see the color of the stars and you can make out the details on the moon surface)

Still nobody beat the 808 in terms of image quality.. P20 Pro got close but still lost.. Let's see whether Mate 20 can finally beat the 808.. Or maybe Nokia 9 can take the crown

And yes the 808 takes marvelous photos. And no I think you got it backwards.
The p20 does have more advantages in night time.
In day time it's too processed. And manual mode just doesn't quite work as expected. Though dynamic range is superior.

AnonD-558092, 03 Oct 2018Yeah but it's not the same sensor at all and the difference... moreHowever those improvements sensor size are very marginal.
It's more from lens. And even adding in sensor, ISP, and lens improvements aside from dynamic range are not that much unfortunately. And they definitely use way too much noise reduction now. Despite how well they do it, it's too much.

And while there is more than those things those are some of the most important facts.

Plus this is supposed to be their big 10 year thing. It's the galaxy S10. And will expensive as heck.
And with such sensors like the new Sony 48mp one, Samsung supposedly working on 1/1.7inch sensors for mobiles for like four years now that never came out, and their new design for more light intake.....it feels very stagnate and unfair if it's the same setup for the most part yet again....especially for such a "special" release.
