We tried the Oppo Find X Lamborghini's Super VOOC charging and it's stupid fast

07 October 2018
Spoiler alert: It takes just 35 minutes to go from 0 to 100%.

Well, it's not the 15 minutes full charge as told by Oppo, more than two years back.

But this is still mightily impressive.

The end line is 5V anything greater than that will incur heat penalty, the greater the voltage difference the greater the heat produced during conversion. Always consider the end point voltage.

jrharbort, 08 Oct 2018Isn't the charger 5V/10A, not 10V/5A? Later in the same art... moreIt is 10V/5A (50W) from brick charger to phone and 5V/10A (50W) from phone to the battery (if you factor the battery as singular entity) but the truth is that the 5V/10A is distributed to two batteries so it is 5V/5A (25Wx2=50W) (spec of a normal VOOC) for each of the battery. Basically the new VOOC charging that they advertise is just two normal VOOC chargers charging a dedicated battery inside the smartphone.

They provide a charger when you buy the phone. Not everyone loses their bundled charger either, so Qualcomm has no argument here. Someone out did them. It's all there is to it.

                Find X Lamborghini : 105 mAh/minute
                iPhone xs : 19 mAh/minute
The difference is so huge it is not even funny. Total fail from Apple, esp. Considering the relatively small size of battery (vs screen size) on iPhone.

The fastest way to trash your battery yet. Congratz oppo you found the best way towards planned obsolescence yet.

In other news older phone (say my Note 4) had 0-100 in 1 minute. That's how long it took one to swap the battery. They could further improve the design by including a tiny battery to kleep the lights on when doing the swap.

But noooo, that didn't bound well with planned obsolescence so Samsung (among others) sold out. Since 2015 the mobile phones market is a dumpster fire. A clearly aggressive market against consumer's best interests. A glowing example of why markets don't really work (they turn into oligopolies and then all bets are off).

If anything, people would be buying another original cable for their smartphones if something happens to their main one.

Slow charging is much more efficient for phone batteries, though we still have to see this new technology in action before making such conclusions. I assume that this would work out well, with little to no degredation of battery capacity, since after all, Oppo has spent all these years in developing this technology.

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2018Haha..sony fans don't have brains. Don't you?1 - How are you sure that they are Sony fans?? I'd love to see a valid proof with scientific basis for your conclusion.
2 - He is partially right. It has been proven since then that fast charging has been very inefficient for smartphone batteries, as they cause faster degredation as time goes by.
3 - Making fun of people really makes you happy, doesn't it?
I don't mind if that's your thing, but I hope that you also take into account the feelings of those people you're making fun of, as they have feelings too.

Radios in most phones only contribute to 1~2% of their battery drain over a 2 hour time span. So airplane mode would make a negligible improvement, especially in phones capable of topping up in under 2 hours anyway.

GSMA actually if you're using higher voltage this reduces heat generation because of lower current being used. You can transmit the same power by varying voltage/current ratio.
