Is the kernel only 4 years old, lol ;)

Hey there, anyone knows if the 2019 A series will have Android Pie out of the box?

S6 User, 11 Oct 2018The Bixby button is remapable on the S9+, and the Note 9 sh... moreWell they remembered to do it a bit too late. Even first wars with app developers who made apps to kill Bixby on the early S8 should be a lesson to Samsung what to do. But they tried to force people to use Bixby and with each update - Bixby would be back and you needed to wait for the new app. Which was frustrating.

EskeRahn, 11 Oct 2018Indeed much is personal preferences here. And yes it is ... moreAgreed. There is currently no perfect OS. Everything has it’s flaws and advantages and disadvantges.

Who knows, maybe I will find myself fed up with iOS too and come running back to Android... luckily today we have options to choose. And sadly there are only 2 options to choose from...

And yes it is a stupid waste with a dedicated button that can not be mapped to something useful. It is just dead when Bixby is disabled - but at the last it is better than Bixby being launched...

Ios also have stupid button issues. Due to some crazed person had decided that one button could do everything you need, they made functions for single short, single long, double short and triple short click, plus combination with the power key... It is almost a small Morse alphabet they want us to remember - and they claim their UI to be intuitive.... *DOH*

(Android also have stupid key issues natively. Screenshot is hardly intuitive...)

So far I really like iOS. So I guess it is personal preference on who likes what.

E, 08 Oct 2018Thank you for your response friend. Just wanted to know how... moreI agree with everything you said, especially that long term security support is more important than being the first to receive the latest (often buggy) OS.

It's always worth listening to users opinions/ experience before updating to the latest OS.

E , 08 Oct 2018Slow OS updates apart, do Samsungs get regular security updates? Yes, this Samsung Galaxy S6 was released March 2015, but I still get regular software/ security updates.

2018-09-04 G920FXXU6ERG1 is rolling out now & before that I got the June 2018 G920FXXU6ERF5 software/ security update.

These updates for this S6 have been quarterly, they are not officially scheduled, they are released when the patches are ready to protect against any severe/ critical vulnerabilities.

You can see Monthly & Quarterly Samsung Security Update patches here:

Details of all Samsung, Security, Android & Firmware updates can be found on SamMobile (read 'Read This First'):

Check the Model number of your Samsung device by going into your 'Settings', scroll down to the bottom to select 'About Device', & you will see (In my case):

                  Model number SM-G920 (followed by a letter, &/ or number, it'll be an F, U, N, W, U1, or the number 0).

                  Go to:

Type in your Model number or by the time you have typed (e.g. for the S9+):
SM-G965 you'll see it in the drop down menu.
Then select your Country & Carrier, to see what updates have been released & what's in the pipeline.

As an example it is hard to find arguments for using their camera over say "Open Camera".
The only one I've found so far is the double.click on the power-button to launch.

I didn't know about the "pm disable-user". I've disabled 115 apps so far and will keep disabing after I make sure I don't get in a bootloop. :)

Apple is updating all the time because iOS is feature rich like Andorid from 2013.

I love it how Apple fans are happy for getting regular updates on things other people are using for years already.
