Anonymous, 09 Oct 2018Well, that's actually the same with "clouding" on LCD/LED-T... moreThey probably lower it's max. brightness even more. From 461 nits to 400 nits orso. Upto the Mi A2 level I guess.
Isn't it funny how GSMArena wrote this on the Pocoloco:
"The Pocophone F1 display proved to be a very good performer in our display test, pumping out 461 nits of maximum brightness. Combined with the deep blacks the F1's display posted an excellent contrast of 1500:1 - just as Xiaomi promises in its press materials. The minimum brightness level of 2.5nits is also excellent."
Didn't they notice this "bleeding"? Did they have a special equipped version specifically tailored for review-sites? Did Poco changed screen manufacturers after the reviews to deliver cheaper (and hence worse) screens to actuall customers? What is going on?
I think review sites should embarrass companies whom have questionable ethics and expose stuff like this! Perhaps next time OPEN UP a device and actually see which components have been used, and perform a test sample later on from an actual consumer product to see which components have been changed from the review-sample.

umeshk, 09 Oct 2018Don't complain.... it's an incredible phone for the price..... moreUnfortunately the screen is a smartphone's primary in- and output device and should be top-notch. Sure safe a few pennies on that SoC or memory but NOT on the first thing people see... that screen!
Perhaps instead of using a ridiculous 20MP front-camera they should have spend more on a better screen and use a 5MP front-camera instead. But I guess common sense isn't required anymore at high-ranking business positions. And just using that one or two functioning brain-cells is obviously too much.

"That is not screen bleeding, but a feature on the Poco F1" is what they mean.
Lol doesn't it remind of some fruit brand. "It's a feature/You are doing it wrong".
Please Xiaomi, copy their design but don't copy their malpractices!

The consumers are way too naive. They think they have a steal deal in the Poco F1 for apparently flagship specs. Xiaomi is a business and when they give you flagship like products at not-so-flagship prices they are not about to cut back on their minimum profits margins for high end products or even 'high end' like products. They cut corners as much as possible, now its obvious they have cut corners on the display as well. People have no idea how much this phone's bill of materials is, it will be very very low and still at 300 odd USD it is most likely netting them close to 75-85% of usual flagship margins. If people really thought they are getting a great deal compared to true flagships then they deserve this sort of phone with all the problems it comes with.
That's not to say the ridiculous costs of current real flagships are justified, they are not, they way way too overpriced, period. Flagship margins = pure criminal greed but the point here is when all that is going on don't expect to get a great deal out of the blue when business have shareholders and stock prices to look after, they still want to maintain their hefty margins one way or another. Oneplus is an example of that, they ultimately had to answer to their main backers and so the prices went up, still not as high other flagships but still expensive nonetheless.
If the consumers want to teach the OEMs and their shareholders a lesson then vote with the wallet. Don't upgrade too often and simply DO NOT buy their flagships at launch prices until they drop much much lower to reasonable levels due to lack of any sales.
But come on, who are we kidding here? When brainless herds wait outside a concept store overnight in the cold just to be the first to buy a piece of glass sandwiching mass produced PCBs you just know cognitive faculties have long gone into the back burner.

Well, that's actually the same with "clouding" on LCD/LED-TV's. Isn't it?
Got one of the highest KS9000 series TV from Samsung back then in 2017. Oh man, this was one of the most disappointing thing. premium priced so-called high-class model with clouding.
I didn't know that can happen to smartphones too. They're way smaller. should be easy to avoid this problem.
And it's really quesitonable how they are going to solve it with a SW fix. But hey guys, at least you didn't pay that much.
Long story short: OLED > LCD / LED Displays
