Most new features tend to be software ones, running on the faster S845 chip. The retail box includes USB-C Pixel earbuds.

I don't know who's buying the XL.
I prefer the regular Pixel 3 a lot!

AlexG, 09 Oct 2018Technology is not only hardware... Software is the second h... moreBest camera software ugly Pixel crap XL, Best Android software so made by OnePlus

I'm already looking forward to the Pixel 4 with Android 10 (Quiche), 128 GB as the BASE model, 6 or 8 GB RAM, and an extra camera lens on the back. Could be an all-new design unless Google copies Apple and uses the same design for FOUR generations.

The only real dealbreaker is 4 GB RAM. Seriously, Google? The XS already has 4 GB. On Android, that was first introduced back in 2015 with the ASUS Zenfone 2. The Note5 had it. Then in 2016, it became standard for all Android flagships.

I don't think this device will age as well when you think about having only 4 GB RAM and a single rear lens when triple lens could be common in a year. It should have come with 6 GB minimum and a wide-angle or Telephoto.

Pixel 4 or 5 should be when Google gets it right. Some of the software techniques may eliminate the Telephoto one.

Kingslayer, 10 Oct 2018People are completely overlooking what Google did here. It'... moreExactly. I love the fact of this attention to detail of reducing smudge and greasy backs. Its one big reason I have not purchased the shiny grease attracting, lollipop colored backs of so many.
I am also looking forward to the awakening of the additional features on the photo process chip for night time photography without a flash. Hardware is simple and clean. Nice.

this will probably still be my next phone however:

4GB ram worries me... is it enough these days?
no Face ID ?? Samsung and Apple have it now but Google still giving you the fingerprint only?
buying an SD845 SoC when the 8150 is just around the corner sucks.
                $800 price tag.

Im hoping Google's software is impressive enough to justify this phone.

People are completely overlooking what Google did here. It's an all-glass rear but they made most of it a matte finish. I love this. I hope more OEMs copy it. I hate fingerprint magnets.

the tech nerd, 10 Oct 2018Yeah but sadly nothing justifies the 150$ increase in price... moreSee there is another phone that costs 1500€, but that one lacks many features.
Thinking about rethinking that about overpricing?

This is a shame that no company listens to people anymore. This would have been the perfect phone if it wasn't for the notch. This is the only reason that is stopping me from buying it. I will stick to my Samsung Galaxy S7 for now and hoping that someone will release a smartphone with no notch, no round corners and no Edges. Maybe Razer phone 2.

Pixel 3 looks really nice. I'm not surprised it will have the best camera again. What confuses me is this though, it shares the same hardware as the pixel 2, so possibly you are paying for software here.
The speakers being louder? Good. Everyone says that though so far and we get only mediocre loudness at best. Still nothing beats the old Sony Ericssons in loudness and quality. We will see though.
I'm tired of marketing, let's see this beauty in action

AlexG, 09 Oct 2018Technology is not only hardware... Software is the second h... moreYou are right. Software is key. Which is precisely why the Pixel line feels underwhelming. Two things to this.

Firstly, the fact that Google's implementation of Android is the best implementation of Android is debatable. While a lot of people have their preferences, OEM UIs these days have a lot of benefits, features and straight-out-of-the-box functionality that don't need third party apps (and their ads), rooting or ADB that stock Android would.

Secondly, let's assume the Pixel is the best option for those who prefer stock Android and want up-to-date software. Even then, the Pixel line offers only two years of software updates and three years of security updates, which is too little. Most budget Androids will give you one to two OS updates and slightly more of security updates (though security patches don't roll out every month in budget phones). And I am not including Android One devices here, which offer everything a Pixel does.

Google should have focused on providing updates to all their devices -- 1,2,3...---as long as their hardware can take it. Like a 2013 iPhone 5s running the latest iOS12. Just two years of updates and stock Android neither warrants this price, nor makes them distinct from other Android OEMs.

                            junk phone

DISAPPOINTMENT... whole year, I was waiting for these crap. And look at those wallpapers. Ohh... WTF are those!
