Samsung Galaxy A9 quad-camera detailed: tele, standard, wide, depth

10 October 2018
It looks like three of the cameras are from the Galaxy A7 (2018), the tele camera is new.

Hiw about the idea of interchangeable smartphone camera lenses instead.....no....??
4 cameras means battery size will be compromised, or if not, then the phone will weigh beyond 300g.
Wide, normal, and telephoto can be done by a single sensor with varying lens, so that's 3 cameras being merged into 1. And that leaves the secondary camera to be just a B&W sensor for light and detail enhancement.
I mean, look how much space could they conserve by doing some brainstorming!
Being first at something isn't what people always need, and definitely not at something that nobody asked for and no real benefit to anyone, only to claim the title of being the very first.
I'd rather live with a single camera phone up to 2030 and let the OEMs spend those 12 years in developing new and more innovative ideas, rather than have 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 meaningless camera setups.

This isn't a hate message to Samsung or anyone. It's just a friendly reminder of what we should be looking for in a device.
I'd pick this phone up for its large battery, USB-C, 3.5mm jack, IP67 rating, sAMOLED display, and SD660 SoC, not because of 4 cameras (2 of which I don't really need).

At first, Samsung was one of the fewest OEM´s who got on the dual-camera train last year. Now it produces phone, with 4 cameras on the back. That escalated quickly

samsung is getting in the camera competition lol.. they are using their mid rangers to show us that they will be putting 3 cameras on their new flagship which is the s10+ and the note 10 will probably have 4 cameras let us wait and expect anything from next year is gonna be crazy.........

gohelvishalp, 10 Oct 2018Isn't that telephoto lens can do the depth job? My oneplus ... moreYep, they should have replace the depth one with a B&W camera and use the telephoto as depth one. Perhaps they don't want have the sofware developed for that or as simple as they don't want the Huawei's B&W camera aura over their phones, lol.

that's crazy AF! so, basically V40 ThinQ doesn't have any value here, specifically on the camera section. but beware ppl, don't buy this device. since samsung just doing experimental feature here. maybe this is not just a gimmick like they're doing on J7+ but 4 camera on the midrange, you know the result here.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Although the Depth Sensor is probably just there to make up the numbers. And the Telephoto sensor makes it even more redundant.

Still, if Samsung is willing to take such a radical approach with a mid-ranger, just imagine how the S10 will turn out! Exciting Times!

Hallelujah! I really loved the ultra wide angle from LG G5, and i really wanted the same from samsung with their own sensor. I wish the galaxy S10 will have it

Isn't that telephoto lens can do the depth job? My oneplus 5 is using telephoto for depth, huj?

                    Tele just for zoom.
The depth makes the DEFOCUS while main captures person.

And the price is... $500 ugh

So this phone is for people who want all sorts of cameras in one. Good job!
