Would never buy the 8.1 unless it has snd 845 and 6Gb Ram.

Last rumors say this phone will be global Version of X7 which is exclusive for China. They will use number 9 for true flagship.

Adul Al Salami Kebab, 22 Oct 2018Umm 8 is no longer flagship? SD710 is a mid-ranger yes? :c Nokia 8 is NEVER a flagship. It is a 'pseudo' flagship Nokia made to 'test the water'.
Nokia re-use the same strategy it uses when launching Lumia 800; made sub-par flagship (pseudo-flagship) just for the sake of 'testing the water' and portfolio.

Moreover, Nokia STILL use the same old, same old formula; make TONS of sub-par and 'mediocre' devices, SOLD it at MID-RANGE price.

Even the 8 is no exception; mediocre camera sensor & quality, bluish display, useless 'Bothie' gimmick, questionable FPS quality, meager 3090mAh which resulted in mediocre battery life, meager 4GB RAM & 64GB internal memory for 600 euro (initial price tag)!

Looking at HMD's other x.1 products, most likely this will come with a huge notch. Imo, the only kind of notch that is tolerable is the waterdrop notch.

They keep releasing phones to the market with "mediocre" specs & features with INSANE price tag. Even when ALL other brands keep released better screen & tech, Nokia STILL released monochrome/4096 colors 1.28 inch screen, 2G internet speed (they capped it to EDGE), very low quality camera (mostly VGA with 10secs QVGA video recording) and no expandable storage...
Nokia even go as far as 'capped' Helio P60 & use 'cheap' 720p screen for Nokia x5 in order to make x6 'look' better (Helio P60 prowess is equivalent to SD 660, both CPU & GPU-wise)...
If Nokia 8 nowadays is around US$400, why bother urself with newer but 'worse' Nokia devices which priced almost the same?
Heck, u can even go for Mi8, ffs. Most of Mi series (flagship especially) are promised to get updates al least 2 years (My dad Mi5 got MIUI 10 and latest security patch), and could be supported for longer lime).

For me, say NO to OVERPRICED DEVICES.
There are TONS of manufacturers which offer SD710=powered devices for cheap, unlike 10 years ago!

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2018HMD is making a mistake flooding the mobile market with all... moreI think it's something they needed to do because their X.0 models all had bezels, so with all the notched/bezeless phones on shelves, they're X.0 devices would look old, so by giving them the slight upgrade and X.1 notched designs, they're more likely to sell. I think Nokia/HMD have internally even dismissed that the X.0 devices exist and have practically written them off so they can focus on the upgraded models. The pace of these upgrades, isn't something I expect to see with future devices.

I think the entire bezeless/Notched design caught Nokia/HMD by surprise and they didn't expect them to be adopted so quickly, so instead of waiting an entire year to upgrade and risk their devices not selling, they moved up their schedule in order to ensure their devices don't miss the spotlight when being compared to other devices. I commend them on that move and how quickly they moved along with that decision.

Sirocco was supposedly the 8.1 of the Nokia 8 ...but with the announcement above, it seems they're ignoring the Sirocco as simply a Sirocco variant and I think that's mainly to do with the Sirocco having bezels and despite being one of the most beautiful devices, when compared to a bezelless/notched design, it looks old, so by releasing an 8.1, it will surely carry a notch and will look more worthy on the shelves when compared to the sirocco.
