wow... there are a lot of blind fanbois around here... why are you defending a phone maker like it is yours? bah. Nokia's not doing good and they need to come up with better phones. period. now stop whining like some butthurt kids. and yes this comes from a hardcore symbian lover; now a happy xperia arc owner.

This phone is born to fail. I am a Nokia fan. Using different symbian phones since 8 years. But this phone is disappointing. A small screen, no secondary camera, even the main camera came at bottom in 8 mp camera test by GSM Arena. If Windows Phone 7.5 is the only point then there are few other devices with better specs and less price. I wonder who is buying it ???

it really is too early to call this a massive failure...plenty of products in the past have come off the blocks stumbling. However, given Microsoft's history with the qin and wm6, it doesn't look good for Nokia. I agree that people get too caught up in specification hype that they fail to give a handset a chance. I believe pretty much all the current OS's (ios, droid, symbian, wp, bb) will be able to fit the needs of 85% of consumers. Dual core is nice but unless you're playing 3d, java rich games, I really doubt you'll need it. And the whole adobe flash debate: I seriously doubt the average consumer watches tons and tons of streaming video on their phone. Not only is it a battery drain, it can strain the eyes if you're watching that much video on a sub 4-5 inch screen. But, if that's you're cup of tea go ape shit with you're android device. I just get annoyed when people bash devices because of lacking features. If you want flash and a ffc get a gs2. If you want a user friendly, app rich device go iphone. If you want to try something new get 800. Just don't waste everyone's time by "validating" your phone by bashing a competitor

If Nokia went with android, they would have to pay patent fees to Microsoft.

i knew that nokia would fail to meet their target with the lumia 800.for me the reason is that people got used to the n9 with its beautiful amoled 3.9" screen and now nokia is proposing the same with a smaller 3.7" screen. The beauty of the n9 is the simplicity. There's nothing on the screen.no button at all on the front.Nokia itself was so proud of it.Now they propose a smaller screen with 3 touch buttons at the buttom of the screen.so for me it's no more as themselves said for the nokia n9(simply beautiful

nokiafailure, 22 Nov 2011Your on about grammar. Youve mentioned it 3 times in a few ... moreI've never heard of anyone telling someone they are stupid when they mention something three times. It is called repetition my friend it comes in handy sometimes because thick people like you need it explaining a few more times. Yes, I do get a 6 figure salary but only because I did well for my self that I was granted such a good job as a Software developer. Believe me or don't but it is true and a much better job than yours. I also do not think I am a kid as I am 35.

When Nokia stopped Meego I was really upset since it was a platform that had some potential to compete with Android but by abandoning it Nokia shoot itself in the foot. Then I thought that Nokia might go for Android and customize it to their own liking but instead former Microsoft guy got bribed into using an OS that I think is ugliest in the world more or less resembling Windows 1x. Now they have to pay for consequences of using a failure OS worth features that even Symbian can out match.

When window mobile 8 comes out it will be good because I think it's going to use the metro UI instead of the wp7

Lumia 800 selling even close to half a million seems overly optimistic to me. Won't be impossible but the advertisment costs for reaching such an astronmic number for a WP7 phone will not be low. Popularity of WP7 would more than tripple if it will reach that sales number.

How can they expect to meet sales when the phone cost as much if not more than the competetion with older hardware. That's just dumb. Microsoft and nokia need to bump up the hardware if they expect to compete. Who cares if the software runs just as fast with older hardware. We would rather have similar or better hardware running even faster than the competition.

so nokia thought ditching meego would be a good option the platform which was able to play the whole directory of apps that android had to offer plus its own apps plus a totally new interface without keys along with the best home screen ever which gave all of the notifications and prioritized ur calls and msgs and showed them above others. now android is going for a keyless interface. well along with intel micro processors and meego who knows how far nokia could have gone. meego's power can also be seen by the way it minimizes the apps and keeps them running in real time task management.
THEY SHOULD HAVE CONTINUED BOTH PLATFORMS IN CASE ONE DIDNT MEET THE EXPECTATIONS
