Samsung's new Exynos chipset powering the Galaxy S10 gets unveiled next week

09 November 2018
It will probably be called Exynos 9820 and may come with a dual-core NPU.

The iPhone XS series and XR might be supported until 2025.

Not to mention, Apple might be underclocking the Tempest cores to save even more battery over time.

Let's just say that Tempest cores are almost as powerful as Cortex A73 @2.1GHz, which would score around 1500.
Vortex cores score around 4800, and yet the multi-core score of the A12 Bionic chip is just around 12,000.
In my estimation, if the 6 Tempest cores are really running around the speed of Cortex A73, then the multi-core score must've been beyond 15,000.
Besides, if Apple decided to run it that high, it might cause the chipset to throttle so easily.

The fact that Samsung has their own custom core design while Huawei relies on Cortex's latest one only shows how they've invested more time and R&D for their high end SoC, which means Samsung has thought out of everything first.
The single core score of 4000 of the Exynos 9810 is just the fruit of their choice of starting from scratch.

They sadly do slow the phone down gradually over time, but that's a different story. Even then, a slowed down Exynos 9810 would be as fast as a fresh Kirin 980.

Idk how it can be worse at efficiency, but it's true that it helps in lessening the production cost. And that's very cheap of Huawei for such a SoC that's supposedly going to power a $1000 flagship phone.

Processing and graphical power are still more important, especially with the rise of gaming smartphones.
It does beat the A12 Bionic in Neural-related tasks, but let's just admit that it's not truly crucial in everyday usage.
Call me back again only if there's already a good and practical use of that "Dual-Brain Power."

If Qualcomm wants to really overtake Apple it need not wait for ARM to spoon-feed it Core design by just copying and tweaking Cortex-A (which is meant for OEM who can't undertake Core design by themselves). Qualcomm needs to license ARM latest architecture ARMv8.4-A and invest in Core design R&D

However, Qualcomm's major expertise is in modem design and Qualcomm is still the industry leader in modem design.
