Samsung's foldable phone to come in March for $1,770

12 November 2018
That's based on info from industry insiders, who do not believe the phone will feature 5G. Samsung is still confident it can ship 1 million units, though.

Hope it's not DOA work ridiculous pricing!! Generally it takes few iterations for Samsung to master the implementation and proper use cases... This is a new form factor...hope the wannabe guinea-pig can throw money into this!! You are most welcome! The price will be shattered to $600 when Chinese OEMs master the tech!!

Once you quote its price in terms of how many other phones you can buy, it becomes obvious how ridiculous this is. Nice!

Most of the top smartphone brands are Chinese nowadays, and their international prices are a function of domestic prices, usually 10 to 30% more. GSMArena quotes a lot of phone prices in RMB and their USD & EUR equivalents.

Is this a new or a joke by samsung. ? Anyway who cares about. Saving 1770$ bucks is not a bad deal.

Gary, 12 Nov 2018Compare to ZTE Axon M which is selling at about $285 in China... They're very different though... The Axon M is basically two phones joined together. The screen itself doesn't fold... Which is why it's much cheaper to produce.

But $1,770 for the Samsung F would be too much really... For that price you could buy:

1 x Huawei Mate 20 Pro & save plenty of money
                2 x Samsung S9+ & save some money
                3 x OnePlus 6T & save some money
                5 x PocoPhone F1 & save some money
                7 x Lenovo Z5 & save some money
                9 x Moto G6 Play & save some money
                17 x Xiaomi Redmi 6A & save some money

Pretty wild when you think about it. :D

Gary, 12 Nov 2018Compare to ZTE Axon M which is selling at about $285 in China... You are comparing oranges with apples. ZTE Axon M is just a horizontal flip phone, nothing more.

Price in China is irrelevant unless you can get it through customs and landed for that price - unless you live in China, of course.

$1700 price tag is too much for such a beta device.
It's cool but not $1700 cool

being the first to release such a device does not mean that they have to rob us; I get it, it's new, it's desirable but enough with those prices...they've been leaking this technology for years

                            price is total BS!

In the latest smartphone pricing, i guess mid rangers are more than enough. Xiaomi has confirmed that it takes only $350 to build flagship smartphones. Buy mid range smartphone, and save the extra money for something that is MORE important.

xformer, 12 Nov 2018foldable! who cares!! what's that good forI wouldn't be surprised if we had to assemble it too. XD

Bad pricing for a gimmick product. These foldable phones will be selling for half the price in 2-3 years at most. The technology would also have improved by then.

Currently if you're solely interested in full-screen display phones, then you should consider one of the new slider phones. If you don't want a slider, then you can consider the Nubia X. These days there are plenty of notch-less bezel-less phones to choose from.
