Is this 2 Gbps LTE = 5G ?
No where in the article stated it.
Somebody please enlightens dumbmasses like me...

Kirin 980 is overall better processor.
Don't forget it is at least 6 months ahead of Exynos.
Huawei is slowly going forward in better direction then Samsung.

Kiyasuriin, 14 Nov 2018It doesn't make sense though. if the S835 can't do 720p@960... moreExactly. He's talking cr@p against the Snapdragon 835 to make his Exynos 8895 look good.
Even if the S8 came with a memory-stacked sensor, only the Snapdragon variant would be able to perform 1080p@960fps super slow motion videos, while the Exynos variant would max out at 720p@960fps.
SD835 is capable enough to handle it, otherwise Sony wouldn't release such feature on their own handsets.

Annas, 14 Nov 2018Can this think compete with A12/A12X? Or maybe with the nex... moreLike every Android SoCs, this would still be behind Apple's A chipsets, which are all still on a league of their own, but unlike the others, this chipset would be closer to the A12 Bionic's performance than anything else Android has to offer (if Samsung manages to pull out another great custom core design like they did this year on the Exynos 9810).
Who knows, this might be the very first Android chipset to beat the Apple A11 Bionic, which is pretty much still unmatched until this point.

Anonymous, 14 Nov 2018Samsung wastes time when they say it can do 4K@150 and 8K@3... moreIt's sadly the bad side of a very powerful silicone.
Such capabilities are only limited, and might even do harm to the device. Sony did the right thing of not including 4K@60fps just yet, as it's practically still pointless at this point (1080p@60fps is still fine! Come on!).

ace007, 14 Nov 2018That's Because Qualcomm's Snapdragon Is Dragging Samsungs E... moreIf only the chipset can handle 8K@30fps or 4K@150fps, it mean it just the chipset
Other things need fo be factored, the camera sensor(does it support it, does it have the resolution), next the storage(is it fast enough to achive the required throughput) the encoding algorithm (can it keep up, can it compressed the file), the thermal(even a 4k@30fps is capped, so go figure) and, practicality(it's almost no point in recording 8K in phone, even more impractical than 4K HDR)
It's havw more factor actually but you get the idea

Anonymous, 14 Nov 2018This chip is really underwhelming. especially for a anniver... more1 - It's not always about the number of cores to vary. 12 cores of Mali G76 is more powerful than the 18 cores of Mali G72. Just like 4 adult men could push a car easier than 20 adult cats would.
2 - They've used the slightly slower Cortex A75 cores for better mid-level performance. That cluster isn't made to be the most powerful, and I bet that the custom core of this chipset would obliterate the Cortex A76 on the Kirin 980, considering they themselves couldn't even match the custom core Mongoose M3 design of the Exynos 9810.
The choice of using A75 is great, since A76 is way too much of a power hog, and they don't want to create an overheating piece of cr@p like the Kirin 980 (as proven by GSMArena lab tests).
3 - Nothing special?? Well I don't really care. There still isn't any special thing to make use of it either, and the fact that there is one is already good enough for me. So long as it works, it's fine by my standards. Let Huawei and Apple to lead the NPU game, Samsung wouldn't give a single piece of sh*t, as they own the smartphone game instead.
4 - 8nm vs 7nm. A matter of 1nm difference. If the difference in efficiency between 14nm and 10nm isn't even that big, why would I expect something bigger on this case?? They could even manufacture this chipset in 10nm and I still wouldn't mind, as long as it's already efficient enough. I get that people can be nitpicky at times, but at least they should find the right place to act like that.

ace007, 14 Nov 2018That's Because Qualcomm's Snapdragon Is Dragging Samsungs E... moreIt could be a reason, but we also have to consider the GPU and not just CPU.
While the Mongoose M2 cores of the Exynos 8895 can handle such task already, its poor Mali G72 graphics might be holding it back.
Just look at the newer Kirin mid range and Helio P chipsets. They support video recording of up to 4K@30fps, yet phones that use those chipsets are unable to do it (disregarding those who choose not to enable the feature to be used).
It's such a shame to think, considering the Snapdragon 625 of 2016 can do it very well.

Some people here are doing mistakes.
The 960fps@720 /1080 has nothing to do with CPU. It is because the memory RAM inside the sensor. It allows the readout to be 4x faster than a regular sensor.
XZs with Snapdragon 820 can also do it, remember? But XZ with same 820 cannot.
New exynos again isn't able to record HDR 4K. Lame !!!!

This chip is really underwhelming. especially for a anniversary phone. Even the Kirin 980 is better and thats already been released and has a headstart of around 5 or 6 months. The fact that Samsung come late with a sub par chip is embarassing, Huawei is destroying them in every area slowly.
Theyve dropped their GPU core count from 18 to 12 and are using old cortex A75 cores when Huawei is already using A76 cores. Their NPU is nothing special either... Huawei and Apple own that game.
Kirin 980 already 7nm in 2018... and samsung can only do 8nm in 2019? smh

Samsung wastes time when they say it can do 4K@150 and 8K@30.
They already limit 4K30 up to 10 min only because of overheating. And 5 min for 4K60.
While Apple and Sony can record as much as the user wants.

Kiyasuriin, 14 Nov 2018I agree. And a little fix. the A12X is meant for their iPad... moreYah i know but just imagine that.Btw,they also avoid and use very less amount of chemicals in their products such as beryllium, mercury in led screen which is most companies use in their led display, removed 100% pvc from their products and many more. All iphones in 2017 are 100% no waste materials which is wow for me.Next, apple arranged components inside their products neatly and used recycled coppers for cables, connectors and boards. They mainly use the materials that can be recycled such as aluminium, copper, glass, paper, tin, steel, tunsten, reduced plastics usage and rare earth elements. They primarily use recycled cobalt in their battery with high quality by refinement. They goal is to use less chemicals, zero waste materials, safer for people whl are making the products and safer for consumers. So much wow for me because most companies don't care about these things tho.
