Not a fan of benchmarks but lol at people thinking the kirin 980 was anything more than a silly placeholder for the real contenders. That's a funny joke, for sure!

Shanti Dope, 15 Nov 2018No. Opening an app only measures the speed of the memory of... moreAgree about overall gpu performance but it seems like apple also does a better job in gaming. Their gpu are the best in peak performance but suffer heavily in sustained performance. Thankfully there’s no such game that’s very close to 3dmarks slingshot.(but I’d like to see a game that has the graphics of that. Where’s gta 4 mobile lazy rockstar games?)
The thing is that games usually are more optimized on ios devices. Asphalt 9 is an example. It always runs 30fps on iphone x compared to sd note 9 where it gets frame drops to 27-28. Then I’ve realized that iphone gets minor graphics enchantments like better anti aliasing and such. I guess the monopoly effect really kicks in here.
But that’s an example. Games like pubg mobile are just as optimized on androids.(or rather unoptimized on both platforms because they only add new outfits instead of better improvements)

Although speed & power plays some part (even if it won’t be an issue for all tasks to 90% of people out there) overall performance of phone is really important factor. For me, huawei p20 pro gives us whatever we need from a smartphone for coming several years.

Chithu, 15 Nov 2018OnePlus6 SD 845 demolished A11 A12 in official speed test. ... moreNo. Opening an app only measures the speed of the memory of the phone. In this case, the UFS 2.1 of the OnePlus 6T is faster, and Android is usually programmed to use the high performance cores even when just opening apps, while iPhones only utilize the low performance cores to open low to mildly heavy tasks.
To test out the raw CPU performance, they should be tested by doing some processing intense tasks, such as video rendering. Such tests like that prove that Apple is always ahead in the race. iPhones finishing GeekBench earlier than Androids tell how much more powerful the CPUs on them are.
GPU on Androids are usually better, at least in the case of Qualcomm's Adreno. That would matter more for gaming, but we're sadly NOT talking about that.

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2018That one core at 2.84 GHz will never kick in into action in... moreAs soon as you open a heavy app, that core will be activated to handle the job. If the app itself would run smooth and fast enough with the underclocked Cortex A76, the high performance Cortex A76 won't work, but looking at the increase of demand in gaming smartphones, I bet that the high performance cores would be used more frequently already.

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2018The S10 will obviously be the best of them. You can always waitThe S10 would have it all, but then the Note 10 would have even more, and then the S11 would have more still, and the Note 11 would have more, and then the S12 will be better, and so on and so forth.
It's a never-ending cycle. Note 9 has all it takes to be relevant within the next 4 years, and I'd suggest to get the flagships as soon as they're released, for people to enjoy having the best phone for a while.
At this point, he might as well just wait for the S10, but if S Pen is a must, the Note 9 isn't a bad choice at this point.

That one core at 2.84 GHz will never kick in into action in real life. It's only there to win the number game in the labs.
