Removable battery wont be a big issue.
Nowdays every company sealing its phones.
Problem with Samsung its in price.
Brand new S9 cost 1000 euros now in Samsung store it cost 445 euros.
They shed skin and blood from every customer and then sells cheap.
But not many are interested to have a toy for 1000.
Everybody waiting for discouts,
Even note 9 cost 500 less after 4 months,

The price of their midrange phones is equal to Xiaomi's flagships. Also the curved screen is deal breaker for me, as I'm looking for the flagships which have the best camera and performance.

The problem is that Samsung phones are bad value for money in every category, flagship midrange..., they compete in! Consumers can always find an almost as good phone for a lot less money! Samsung no longer only compete with always overpriced Apple phones!
iPhone fans, expensively invested in the iOS ecosystem, only have Apple's phones to choose between, but Samsung fans, expensively invested (apps games...) in the Android ecosystem have far more alternatives than only buying phones from Samsung!

What nothing to do with a mobile being double the price it should be, mediocre OS, gameplay, office, typing, and video camera/camera control abilities to look after users. The SimpleTON controllability of most things on android makes things lack lustre, and when things go wrong you loose user data too often. If you want to use your phone in place of a good camera, you are coming out worse off. At least Apple has 3rd party apps which can help on its hardware. But back to controllability, these phones have much more processing power than old desktop PC's which gave the user much more control over their data's destiny, and allowed people to manage things much more intricately without jailbreaking it. They also had physical controls on game pads, things which could be built into the units discretely, and used for camera controls.

But let's get real, what can you do with a thin rectangular box, except the things above, and well written software that works reliably, efficiently and fast for good use experience (like you know who)? You already have enough processing power, screen, battery life, camera sensor specs (expect dynamic range) there is not much left to improve, except moving most cloud functionality to the device where it can work better. The day of the rise of mobile is coming to an end. Rogs and other gaming phones are about the end of it, outside AI. Folding phones we waited for so long are also finally here, and I hate a lot of the designs.

Now s time fur completeness and convenience as the designs are shrunk and folded. But in 10 years time, will a phone from 2020 still be good enough instead if buying another. Things like silicon nanowire batteries and various next generation computer technologies can make ultra thin phones a thousand times faster with 1000's of hours battery life. Then what? Built in scanners and tricorders. Anti grab drone phones? Many to many auto mesh networking phones requiring no real network, working like portable communicators. Unless companies pay attention, they will get trouble sooner rather than latter.

It's all about pricing and what you're giving to the customers.Samsung prices always high as compared to Huawei and Xiaomi. Samsung need to learn from both these companies.

Well, the only thing they got to improve on is their stability of software. A phone cannot start lagging after a year - let alone few months. The software updates are as slow as never. Huawei got all of those covered plus it has kick-ass hardware.

Its very bad to hear.. Samsung is a great company which is in mobile industry for more than double decade and they are the one who gives quality products.. Just because of Andriod these chinese local companies started making mobiles.. Samsung is a innovative company and we should respect that and start buying samsung.. since china mobiles are cheaper , people go for it and we forget the history and quality of samsung.. If andriod is not there, all these local chinese products will die.. But samsung was before android and was leader,, now also they can go ahead with their own tizen OS

If only samsung listen to their customers this will never happened. Samsung has to make two variant of screen one is curve and one is flat. I hate the curve sides because it always has something happen like pressing accidentally and some apps will go to other page or deleted. And most importantly, innovation is getting out of wak, chinese mobile company like huawei and xiaomi iis more innovative every year by changing designs. Samsung starting to copy apple that change design every 2yrs. Instead of innovate every year. We need to see change from samsung design team. I had samsung since 2010 but when I saw oneplus 6t with new innovation design and got it. I made the right choice, it is cheaper flagship, camera needs more tweaks but for sure op design team will listen to op customers and will have new design again this coming 2019!

                                      > the reason Samsung is finally getting in the lead of innovation
Very loaded article. When was not samsung in the lead of innovation? Infinity display, variable aperture camera, DeX, Linux on Dex, 512 GB internal storage.
High price and bad advertisement (adaptive brightness was introduced in S8 but only now google is hyping it in Andoid P, screen white balance correction was since forever but was labeled as pink tint) is two top reasons for low sales of latest samsung devices.

S8 and S9 were busts. Only fanboys liked them. Sales were telling a different story.

Ever since they sealed the battery their phones instantly lost the allure they had over other phones. The sales followed suite (from 80 mil in S4, to 65 in S5, 45 in S6 ... S9 would be lucky to hit 30 mil at this point).

Then to add insult to injury. S8 and S9 had a tiny battery and a dated design. Exynos 9810 was an overheating mess, their VR while started promising (Netflix everywhere) never developed it (low res still, sucky response times). Their cameras have been overtaken.

Only Samsung Dex shows promise, but even that was not marketed well and most don't even know how liberating it can be to their work flow.

In general Samsung has been a mess ever since S6 , and things only get worse lately. Obviously they need a reboot and IMO they should bring back the one thing that was clearing setting them apart. Removable battery, pros whould flock on them (a million times better than carrying external chargers, especially if they make it so, so that they won't need to shut down the phone for the swap).

But I don't expect that from Samsung , to bring removable batts in the modern world requires an innovative mind that Sammy clearly lacks lately...
