less generic? you mean the edge sense, tactile buttons, transparent design and 3d audio recording? It is one of the most innovative phone manufacturers and generic is the last word to define htc. Samsung is generic for example.
In display fingerprint reader "at least"? I guess the rear fp scanner is obsolete by now.

Sure, because the number of cameras is always defining. In the same universe as higher megapixel count = better camera. You do know the Pixel phones have 1 camera front 1 back right?

Of course they are not needed, but in order to appeal and sell you need to put those in just like everybody else because they look more eye-catching.

The only one to do that well is Apple. Kirin has lots of problems and weak gpu. Not to mention the overheating on the p20 pro. Exynos is (at least this year) a disaster compared to it s snapdragon counterpart. Ask anyone who has a slight clue about phones if it is better to purchase samsung with sd 845 or exynos cpu

Nice to hear HTC doesn't give up , HTC phones are most durable and unique designed phones i ever use. I am using HTC phones since Desire HD and now i own HTC U11 plus and i am happy with it.

Cheap flagships have worse sales than expensive... moreIn terms sony and motorola they have the worse marketing on earth, its hard to find those model at oz and most asia, I ws looking for those flagship but cant find so I bought iphone, which good brand but lower Battery quality, older brand has great experience, so can manage 2years without change new battery

They should bring back HTC One brand. That was a catchy name. U sounds sucks. HTC One A9 was a great phone.

If one would purchase a real flagship phone, then he/she would rather invest all in for an all-round flagship, not a cheap flagship with compromises on some or several aspects.
Besides, people would rather choose flagships from trusted and reliable manufacturers instead of from those Chinese half-trusted brands who are yet to prove their worth in the high end territory.

I am not HTC fan (Nokia fan). But talk honestly HTC gives good quality phones. Wish HTC will success again.

HTC need something less generic. The dual front speaker definitely out of the question. No longer a good choice when most phone is going bezel less. Even more so in 2019 where the notches expected to become obsolete. Whatever HTC planning with design they better do it right. Integrating AI and 5G is pretty much expected of all coming up phones.
For a start, put in display fingerprint scanner at least. Flagship or midrange; works both way. Dual down firing speaker is good too or side firing speaker. The camera is good enough if only they could emphasize more on the development. Just add quadruple cam there like nobody business; no one complaining. If it too expensive do cost cutting on material. No need fancy glass or ceramic. Fabric textured carbon fiber is good too. Heck just put plastic like I even care. We gonna slab casing on it anyway. Innovate on your own chipsets dear HTC. All the top 3 smartphone do make their own processor. Stop depending on Qualcomm. That is how you pull it off in this business.

HTC is the first android phone, but now it's dark because the needs of the buyer aren't right for the price. Don't worry, learn from Nokia

One of the best camera lives in HTC.
Maintain headphone jack, revive Boomspeaker back, revised the design (no notch please, but teardrop is acceptable).
Rejunevate the goodness of HTC Diamond design.

I'm okay with this...as long as HTC prices their devices aggressively and can rise as a company that keeps the features others have got rid of. Good to see the U12 Life's 6GB variant will be global.
HTC had poor leadership. The 10 was arguably their best phone and the last flagship overall that was just an easy recommendation. I saw the U11 and knew HTC was going in some "let's chase the other companies" thing and that didn't work

Cheap flagships have worse sales than expensive ones.
Iphones, Galaxy S , Huawei P and Mate have way better sales than flagships from Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus. ..
Even if Motorola, Sony and. HTC charge 580 dollars people would not buy anyway.
I think it ridiculous when someone says that is not going to buy A because of price, but even after A gets 20, 30 % cheaper the person still does not buy..
