I want an 8CX vs A12X comparison !!

    • CISC VS RISC

While the actual performance will varied, i can confidently say that the ARM architecture is rising, I’m not saying x86 is obsolete, it just we are reaching the end of x86 or CISC evolution
ARM or RISC has been evolving lately with Amazon server chip and now the 8cx(although performance is TBD), when dekstop software finally optimise for ARM, maybe chip industry will change

      Im not too hopeful.
An Intel a-8750 (x7) was a decently better SoC than the QSD 835 when it came to Windows10 Pro.
And theres no doubt that the QSD 850 is bettered by the Core i3-6Y30 (m), by a significant margin no less.

Whilst were seeing about a +40% increase going from the QSD 845 to the QSD 855, at some battery life penalty.
And it seems likely the Snapdragon-Notebooks (SnapBooks?) will take a similar OR smaller increase. Remember theres not much separating the two form-factor chips besides SUSTAINED performance.

So at the very best/optimistic outlook, I can see the 2019 Snapbooks just matching the 2015 Core m3-6730.
However, theyll still get crushed by the likes of 2018 Core i7-8500Y (m)…. let alone the Core i7-8565U or even the lower Core i5-8250U which will come at a comparable tablet/laptop total system power draw.

Â…and I know what people are going to say “but Amazons Custom-ARM servers managed to beat Intel servers”
….and to that I respond, “Yeah, okay”.

That said, I really hate the dishonesty in tech. They're comparing with an ancient Core i5u, making it sound like a performance monster. This isn't only Qualcomm but all tech composite lying through their teeth like the worst stereotype of used car sales men.

And WP was better than Android in many aspects. It died because of lack of apps only and lack of apps happened because of MS shortsightedness. When they finally got serious, it was too late.

Windows trying to grow again. They should focus on tablet only. Smartphone is a total no for Windows.

If Should Ever Be A Sony Z5 Tablet Or Samsung Galaxy Tab S5 Should Sport This Chipset Rather Than SDM 845/855..

Bring on 2019! This SoC is a great example of what QC and Microsoft's collaboration has brought to the table. Will be interesting to see how this first gen chip runs and how future iterations of it evolve.

This is what android tablets should sport.

It may not be as good as the A12X on CPU by a huge margin as there's no more cores, but in GPU it could be close enough.
