Using it right now and am waiting for something good enough to replace it, maybe the XZ4C will manage that.

At long last a modern phone I actually want to buy. Just hope it doesn't grow too much from previous compacts and I'm guessing it's too much to hope for the return of the lanyard eyelet.

I won't complain about the bezels since using a bezel-less phones makes unwanted touches for me.

Oh shit. Sony is bringing back the jack for real. That would be a great reason to buy their devices.

Jon.SWE, 07 Dec 2018I don't like that they keep making the devices taller. And... moreI mean, the compact does have front firing stereo speakers on its side.

However, as in X Compact's case, if the device is an "internally" rehashed version of a previous device, the support life is less than expected because the support for the newer device is also dropped when the original device is dropped. For instance, Z3+ was released in June 2015. The rehashed version, Z5 series ( Z5C, which I still use), was released in October 2015 (5 months later). Both Z3+ and Z5 series got their last updates in October 2017. That being the case, Z3+ was supported for 29 months (~2.5 years) where Z5 series got supported for 24 months and no more.

I don't like that they keep making the devices taller.
And I do think they need a better design. If they need those bezels, they should make the phone feel special. The current design, just makes it look outdated. They should do something with those bezels that make it stand out.
If they want to increase their sales, then need something attention grabbing. Not something that just looks like someone just kept an old phone.
I mean even that back-screen design of that Nex device is more attention grabbing than the front of an Compact from Sony, and that has even more bezels.

shortkey, 07 Dec 2018Anything above 4.6" and 125mm height is NOT COMPACT.True! my Z5c is 127 in height. I was hoping for the same height with 18:9 display. i don't mind if the screen area will be a bit smaller.

acemang, 07 Dec 2018how it's sony devices on updates?Best in the Android ecosystem when it comes to the delivery SPEED of the updates, most of them are the first to get newer Android versions compared to their rivals. However, they like to drop their devices completely after 2 years usually, not even getting any newer security patches.

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2018Yep this is the best compact phone in the market. The only ... moreCorrection: there is no competion in the compact decent phone range.
By decent I mean no lack of majors features (NFC, jack) , a current gen CPU (looking at you quite old s636) and android update.

5 inch screen in a 139.9mm body is compact now? That's only 1.5mm less than my Essential phone despite having a much smaller screen.
The only compact phone Sony ever made was my old Xperia ZL with it's 5 inch screen in a 131.6mm body.
