Nokia 9 PureView to be announced during the last week of January

28 December 2018
The incredibly long-awaited flagship is apparently only one month away.

Shanti Dope, 29 Dec 2018No that's not the main idea. The point is that people are ... morehigh expectations for me already gone when I switch from Huawei p7 to Sony z5 premium.
That 23mp camera look like a joke.

And I also expect Nokia 9 more then 900usd.
And let me guess. Jan19 announce, Mar19 release, Apr19 arrive my country. I think the time mediatek, Qualcomm and huawei kirin cpu already owned 845...(mediatek grow fast decently)

Josh Mui, 29 Dec 2018Nope. I get that. Now day phones really all 'almost' the ... moreNo that's not the main idea.
The point is that people are going to have very high expectations on this particular device, considering that, in theory, this will be Nokia's greatest and best flagship phone of the whole 2019, and they're expecting it to have the best of the best during its release.
I'm not saying that people wouldn't buy this thing, but then why call it the Nokia 9 when it doesn't have the latest Android flagship processor available during its time of release?
Might just call it the Nokia 8 Pro to somehow lessen its negative impact to be a 2019 Nokia flagship phone.

They already did the same thing on the Nokia 8 Sirocco, and we know how well it sold. Or not well should I say.
I'm trying to stop them from repeating the same mistake again, but with so many people refusing me to correct it, I guess I'll have to end my job explaining the same exact thing again and again here.

Just go on and buy this Nokia 9 with SD845 for $900 (I expect its price to be like this, since the older Nokia 8 Sirocco is already near this price mark).
I'd instead get some proper 2019 flagship with SD855 for the same price.

For that, the iPhones are pretty much well-built nowadays and face little to no hardware failures.
Even mid rangers are very durable enough for daily use already. It's not like Nokia phones are bulletproof or fireproof that makes them very special in any way.
Software on Nokia phones is indeed better than many Chinese options, but that doesn't justify the high price tag that they're asking, as the Chinese skins are often just as fast and stable as any non-skinned Android.

Now day phones really all 'almost' the same on how they put all the feature into compact size.
Even you stated all the real situation for nokia like its release date. (I still remember the 950xl after announcement take 3 months to release and take another 1 month arrive my country.)
The point was, there still people pay for it. If the brand was bad, we need let it fall to ash and let the new comer take its place. Otherwise it keep repeating the same problem.

Namelesss, 28 Dec 2018What do you guys have with SoC performance? What do you eve... moreThe problem lies within the name of the phone itself.
As the name Nokia 9 suggests, it supposedly is Nokia's greatest and best flagship of 2019, so it's just right to have the best possible Android SoC at its time of release.
If the pricing is about OnePlus 6 or Pocophone F1 level, it's a good choice, but then again, what's the point of it being called the Nokia 9 again?
Nokia 8 Sirocco's pricing is already at the same level of some phones like the Galaxy S9+ during its time of release, and I don't doubt that Nokia will price this one at an even higher level as well, considering it's their best of their arsenal.

I don't disagree with the SD845 still being a competitive chipset, but a 2019 flagship is a 2019 flagship, and if Nokia can't beat others in at least one area with this phone, then at least it could've matched them in some areas, most especially in performance.
Now if you're out and willing to pay $900 for this thing with a year old chipset, it's your choice, but I have to say, it's definitely NOT worth it.

Josh Mui, 29 Dec 2018With his/her logic. S9 with sd845 also an 'nothing special... moreYou simply don't get it.
The logic here is that Nokia is releasing a supposedly "2019 Nokia's greatest and best flagship phone" with an outdated SoC but still price it at the same level of the price of phones that are coming out with the better SD855 and significantly more compelling than this Nokia 9.

The S9/+ and Pixel 3/XL are NOT outdated during the time that they came out, because their chipset was still the best of the Android realm, and their pricing is just competitive enough for the whole 2018.
Also, they have many things going for themselves that made them very popular and compelling. S9/+ is the most complete package of any smartphone in 2018, and Pixel 3/XL has the best Android experience with the best camera software in the world.
Nokia 9? Oh it has 5 cameras. That's it.
Now you can go back and analyze my previous statements again to show just how stupid your analogy sounds.
                    Happy New Year dude.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2018nothing special? nokias reliable connectivity build quality... moreOkay dude, but pretty much ANYONE can do what Nokia could do nowadays in terms of durability.
A lot of phones nowadays don't bend, heck some don't even scratch up so easily as well.
I was expecting at least the battery life to be somehow better than the rest, but it wasn't the case either.
Pure Android is smooth, but don't act as if it's the only smooth and operative software for Android.
Skinned UIs from Sony and OnePlus are just as smooth as stock Android even for low end devices.
In terms of updates, Nokia is better than many due to the Android One program, but looking back, even Huawei and Sony could release updates quickly without their phones being part of Android One program, so I'd say it's a joke on Nokia's part right there.
I can't even say that Nokia is unique in terms of design nowadays. Their phones look just as ordinary as every other smartphone in the world today. I want the huge circular camera ring from old Nokia phones in the past, but they seem to refuse to use it today, and this penta camera phone looks just as hideous as an eye of a monster from a movie.
Until they bring back everything that Nokia has in the past, I will not recognize them as a legendary brand again..

You think you can price 300$ for a flagship phone that's about to be to released? I'm certain you are talking about Poco F1 with Snapdragon 845. Given that Xiaomi can do that, do you think the only thing they consider when pricing a phone is the SOC? Look at Huawei and tell me how can they put Kirin980 on their Honor Brand and don't price the same as their P and Mate series? Look at the materials used, camera sensors and screen tech plus there are software features that are not available to lower priced phones.

Namelesss, 28 Dec 2018What do you guys have with SoC performance? What do you eve... morePeople want to show of their "huge" e-peen with their SD855 with more benchmark numbers, 7 NANOMETER process, official Gaming Optimization software, new flagship Adreno GPU that is 20% better than last year's and et cetera.

SD845 is already ahead of time in the Android scene recently and the best part is that this flagship SoC is easily sold for cheaps and SD845 phones can be sold for dirt cheap prices too, look at Pocophone F1. If HMD priced Nokia 9 PureView to be around $500 dollars, this would sell like hotcakes like what happened with LG G6. With the PureView patent back to their hands, they can finally improve the camera algorithms like the way they did with the 808 PureView, 1020 and the 950 series phones.

What do you guys have with SoC performance? What do you even use that power for? This is just a phone. Having 5 cameras, it better have excellent image quality. With that all we need is great battery life, good performance (name one game that SD845 doesn't handle properly), good screen, good sound quality and a reasonable price.
Frankly I'm not impressed with any 2018 SD845 phone.
If this Nokia 9 can bring a better camera experience without making it more expensive than existing SD845 phones, then why not?
