Walter C. Dornez, 04 Jan 2019Well better coordination, communication, and more flexibility. exactly. having several cores allow better coordination in managing a certain task. the cores can "talk" between themself. and with the right coding, split evenly the code. and reduce load from one core to many. THAT'S the point of multi-core. the multi-core score is just representing how "efficient" it is to work in multi-core mode comparing to single core. with higher score being higher efficiency.

Slayer, 04 Jan 2019And the iFruit is worth £1,500...? By the way the XZ3... moreYeah, but iPhones are selling fairly well, whereas Sony Mobile keeps losing money every year. A farce considering how well the other businesses of Sony is doing: cameras, Playstation, music etc.

Good thing about iPhones is that the OS updates arrive fast and older phones are supported for a long time. For Android, sometimes you're lucky to even get it at all. For example, some Android 'O' phones of 2017 are probably never going to get Android 'Q' of 2019.

If you desire an Android phone that's perfectly okay, just know that there are better options than an Xperia.

And Ifruit along with Samsung arent worth the money they asking for.
In past brands had its name in present chinese phones dominates everywhere rightfully.
In other words in past chinese phones were crap compared to a well known Sony Samsung or Apple phones worth their price.
In present chinese phones have equal or even better quality than Ifruit Samsung or Sony phones and still cost low.

And I don't need to be educated, I developed programs in assembler (even in DOS debug) since I was a child LOL. And you shot your foot again by saying you cannot compare ARM with Windows so why use GB to compare both? It can be used across different platforms but cross-platform comparison is nonesense. You compare similar processors with the same OS period.

If only you can switch iOS to run on Android device or Windows or vice-versa then you can certainly use GB for comparison. But pretty sure, Apple SoC will be lethargic in Windows or Android OS due their sophisticated architecture.

                  - 4K HDR HLG recording ( impossible without dram inside sensor)
                  - Ingress Protection

                  - best night video skills
                  - Bravia engine technology
                  - Anti distortion shutter

                  - AR effects

J o m s, 04 Jan 2019TLTR Dude, that's the main reason GB is worthless. Becau... moreYou are genuinely insane. Do you have any semblance of knowledge of how all of this even works? I don't even know where to begin - that's how much the nonsense you spew out baffles me.

You ask the stupid question of why ARM chips don't replace desktop chips. Please educate yourself on what the R in ARM stands. RISC is what it is, Reduced Instruction Set. Reduced - do you register the meaning of this word? It's meant to be efficient. Now what does x86 refer to? Literally what it's name is - x is a wildcard. Ever heard of i386, i486? My guess is not. ARM cannot be used on desktops because it is capable of parsing the particular instruction set that is native to x86. Read up on ARM on Windows and understand why this issue is such a headache.

Geekbench tests for specific tasks that can be done on both ARM and x86, it's that simple. Even entertaining your issue with the OS: a benchmark tests the entire system which is a combination of hardware and software. You cannot say a benchmark is bad because the OS is underperforming. And for the last time, userland app cannot govern the process affinity of an OS! - a 5 year old child would understand a concept this simple.

You don't have the slightest hint how computers work. In your experiment you even failed to account for the fact that you're using a superscalar processor so it's not just a simple single thread * number of cores. Even highly parallel task like tile based rendering where Ryzen does really well does not scale linearly - how many instructions are fetched in a cycle depends on a multitude of factors. You can have Windows showing you a 50% CPU usage but have the CPU working at 100% because the pipeline is fully saturated with limited number of instructions.

That's why these benchmarks exist - to see how a system performs really after the OS, thermal envelope and a plethora of other aspects are taken into account. People who developed Geekbench and other benchmark suites are very knowledgeable in this topic, much more than I am, but you're simply insulting their work because of your inability to comprehend the topic at hand.

Your entire argument is: "A12 small so it bad". You're literally arguing that it's not that fast because you don't FEEL LIKE it can be that fast. Actual analysis and numbers prove otherwise. Your argument is equivalent to nothing, a person with common sense would just concede.

                                EDUCATE YOURSELF

Dude, that's the main reason GB is worthless. Because the way it was compiled differently on different OS hence you cannot compare them across different platforms. Look at the side by side comparions out there, A12 is not twice as fast as SD845. GB just extrapolated the scores to make the A12 appear superior than competition. Would you believe Apple's site takes a while to load on iPhone but not on Android phone? Clue? Website is a collection of many tasks and you measure the time it takes to load the whole site, not the cookie or a single DOM. Get it? GB is measuring camera what? My desktop has no camera so what the heck is this? Measuring PDF when all it shows is just a progress bar and percentage. Here is a tip for you, try PCMark, it is the most comprehensive and realworld benchmark tool.

I don't need CS class because I learned it 20 years ago. Take a commom sense class, if A12X is close to fastest desktop then might as well use it as MBP processor. Oops cannot be, because it has great incompatibility and will choke with real productivity apps.
