Anonymous, 20 Jan 201916:9 bezeless pleaseAgree, 16:9 ! or even smaller.
Phones are getting to LONG, just to have a longer diagonal?!.
It's getting impossible to put it into the pocket because they are very long.
Don't make them longer than approx. 150mm.
for good readability - the screen WIDTH should be as large as possible,
for example up to 70mm (body 76-77mm).
Length of the screen is not important, one can always scroll text.
TO conclude, make them with SMALL bezels, but NOT LONG.

True for those who doesn't like cases. From Note 5(5.8") to S7 edge(5.5"), beautiful masterpiece, but impossible to handle.... I ended up with the flat S7(5.1"). comfortable and easy to handle, a real one hand mobile phone. Want to see the movie in a larger screen? Set it closer to your eyes... with 577 ppi is overkill. I predict a return to smaller screens, call me crazy.

The problem isn't lack of bezel, it's the ridiculous dimensions for almost every flagship. 140mm tall x 60mm wide is the comfortable limit for most people but we have gone way, way past that. I'm an Android guy but kudos to Apple, the iPhone X is (almost) the only compact flagship. Phones are just too big now.

I kind of agree with it, bezel less will make phones boring every phone will look the same from front like phones got boring before rebirth of sliders and pop ups and people.hate notches but imo it makes the phone look good especially waterdrop, just use a phone with that notch (V shape not U) and the screen looks beautiful the notch kind of.adds character to what otherwise would be a boring front imo there should ne variety completely bezel less, small bezels, big bezels, tri bezel less, notches etc each has its own pros and cons and each makes phone different

That's why I stayed with my normal S7, I don't like edge displays, rounded corners, weird notches or weird aspect ratios!
Also I like the phone to have bezels, but not too much!
What I want is a 5.0-5.3(16:9 1440P or 4K flat amoled screen with no rounded corners) inch phone, with a big battery 4000+ mAh, 3.5mm headphone jack, IP68 certification, a high-end rear & selfie camera, a good flash, a good speaker(2 front facing stereo speakers would be better though), actual fast charging(20-30+ Watt), nfc, wireless charging, USB type C connector (better be 3.2 gen 2), 8+GB of LPDDR4X memory, UFS 3.0 storage 128+ GB, latest version of gorilla glass (currently version 5 is the latest), cutting edge 7nm SOC(CPU, GPU etc.) whit all the latest and greatest features, IR blaster, Bluetooth 5.0, latest WiFi version/features (ad/ax MU-MIMO WPA3 etc.), Fingerprint reader, actual physical buttons (back, home, recent), all the package of sensors(Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Magnetometer etc.) High-end GPS, RGB notification led, Durable high-end material/construction, a good DAC & AMP, a good elegant design (it isn't necessary to be super slim, cause theycan fit more stuff inside), microSD (SDUC & UHS-III support), Dual SIM(nanosim & dual standby), a good feature rich OS with actual useful capabilities that's lightweight and with beautiful UI.
I don't think that I forgot anything behind, but anyway this is my dream phone, I may demand too much but it's just a dream!

I had the mate 20 pro in my hands today. I didn't have palm registration problem, not even once, i rven tried different things, it seems huawei worked it out very well, but its impossible to use with 1 hand.
The notch problem is just about taste, some find it attractive design and some just don't love it because it gets in the way, but brands like Oppo, vivo and xiaomi already found some solution for removing the notch. Also Samsung and huawei are going for the "eye" like selfie cam. So the notch problem might be gone in the future.
This problem could also be solved software wise, for amoled screen you could add the bezels, for those who want to have bezels ore use the phone with 1 hand.
Maybe we should go back to 5.5 inch bezel-less screen.

My favorite phone of all-time is still the LG G5.
1. LG G5
2. LG V20
3. Essential Phone
4. Apple iPhone SE
It used to be Essential, G5, SE, and V20 in that order. After realizing how I start to hate iOS and realizing my LG phones give me EVERYTHING I really need, I decided to put both at the top. The main factors were IR blaster, removable battery, expandable storage, and headphone jack. The wide-angle cam is just a bonus.
For me, 2016 was the last great year in mobile. Bezel-less, notches, no headphone jack phones that became common after it ruined the industry.
About 12 days ago, I got myself a Sony PS3 phat (80 GB). The one with PS2 software emulation but doesn't overheat as badly. My first PS3 after over 12 years of release. At first, I didn't love it. But as time goes on, it's right up there with my PS4 slim and Vita slim.
I mention it because people need to understand the PS3 was released over a decade and it's still quite a great multimedia player. It can stream Netflix and YouTube fairly fast for its age. It shows many oldies are still a goodie. Newer isn't always better.
I realized my favorite devices I own are the most practical ones. The ones great being all-around. Not the prettiest.

Bezel-less phones are here to stay. I don't have any grip-related issues. In terms of better ergonomics, the "water-drop" design of the upcoming Vivo Apex 2019 may very well address this issues. Looking forward to another year of technological triumph for Chinese smartphone companies, starting with Vivo's "water-drop" design and Oppo's 10x optical zoom.

Bring me phones with bezels. As long as it is a decently working phone.
So tired of slipping phones off my fingers.

This is one of the first times I absolutely agreed with a GSMArena article. Hit it right on the head. It pains me when companies are trying WAY too hard to achieve bezel-less displays but all at the cost of not being able to hold it right, having the 18:9 ratio STILL not be good enough for one-handed use, and having garbage batteries/speakers (no earpiece speaker due to needing to hide it). People soon are going to ask for ALL screen with camera lens hidden on both sides of the phone.....
Then again, this is coming from the person who fell in love with the overall design of the ZTE Axon 7. I'd kill to have a phone like that with 855, 2880x1440 AMOLED, Dual standard+Wide-angle lens, powerful DAC and speakers, and global LTE bands.

shortkey, 20 Jan 2019Maybe, JUST MAYBE, this finger stretching and phantom palm ... moreYES! Smaller phones please. 65MM width max. The phantom touches of the Samsung S8 are solved with a case but the case makes the phone too large. So I hope Oneplus will make a new phone with case that is still no larger than 68MM width.

anoano, 20 Jan 2019and people still bashing out to sony phone for having those... moreSony mostly bash themselves nowadays, going with saneless trendy designs, bezelless and edged displays, etc.
They dont even need online trolls anymore to fail, cause they succumbed to their naggings.
Some article writers are not without guilt either, always promoting nonsens trends just because their fav OEM introduced it.
So now, it is what it is, completely bezelles, screen notches, screen specks, edged and rounded screens, 21:9 aspects.. . I say, they were cheering it, promoting it, let them have it now.

I disagree with the article. I had an s7 edge which was great and now i have an s9 plus which feels amazing. I have no problem whatsoever. It looks very good, the screen is beautiful and i never accidentally press anything. I would love to have even less bezel. Will probably like the s10 plus. And i have normal or maybe even small hands.
