It's sad but that is what happens when executives maximize profits and their contracts for employees are garbage. A monthly contract, god! And the sales will continue slowing, today is usually preferred renew a mid-range phone yearly or each two years at a reasonable price with enough performance and features, get new design, new battery, etc, than buy a $900-$1500 phone.
Even customers fooled and tied to a closed ecosystem have a limit. That bubble already exploded, let the future show them that we are buying phones, a daily tool, not luxury cars that last for decades. And hope they change the business model above all for outsourced workers. This, is today a connected world, people is no more as blind as before, so being as greedy as Apple is, for example, sooner or later will fail when people notice it and decide not to buy anything more from them again, even if they reduce their prices due to it.

well it is not only apple every single company regardless if smartphone related or not cuts people job when thing are not rolling good,.... there is no point in change smartphone every year now devices are really good that you don't need that unless your phone is for gaming ... but even a sd400 with 1gb of ram in my daughter's moto g xt1032 can do everything and she can enjoy basic games ... my wife has lg g4 camera is excellent , video as well screen is superb even better than mine on lg g5 .... my phone has sd820 ... really fast .... so there is no point in swapping devices if you got sd 800 ...808 ..660 .. 632 ...710 820 why change it..... it is better changing an old laptop like one I have dual core amd 2gb of ram ... this needs good update ....core i3 at least

There are a lot of new innovation from big companies - like Samsung or LG (Chinese companies can only copy and that's why getting lower price) but phones would cost a LOT. Once they will be able to reduce cost you will see these innovation in phones.

2. Phones work for 3-4 years without issues these days and no point in upgrade.
3. Very very minimal enhancements/features upgraded in year to year flagship phones.
4. All flagships are following same design and kind of feels boring to customers as there is no uniqueness or differentiating factor
5. No new exciting innovation in smartphone world. between 2011 and 2016 every year there used to be something new in smartphone trend. Now nothing except these NOTCHES .. lol

You can basically do all work on then (not saying that it's convenient). Even the price for flagships are like price for new computer, so people do not want/can't change them so often like before. So it is normal that sales slowing down and personally I don't see reason why sales would jump up again.

That's capitalism for you. Apple gets greedy, charges way too much for iPhones, iPhones don't sell as well so innocent employees lose their jobs and livelihoods while Apple is rolling with more money than they know what to do with. Disgusting.
