I've always wondered who was eager to shell out their money for new MS devices after many failed attempts and abandoned products. Especially when the interface was ugly and inconvenient...

My 2014 Lumia 930 still gets updates in the form of security patches. I never saw any 5 year old android device getting still security updates. I am using the Note8 as daily driver since 2017.

Fortunately, I have quit windows phones for good and a happy Android / iOS user now. Apps on WP is just rubbish! And the tile home screen is not as intuitive as MS claimed.

Their main motto was to play with and destroy Nokia. They didn't do anything on their own, they just played around. They were never serious.

Still using Lumia 1520 probably the best phone, besides some missing apps phone is blazing fast with really good camera. UI is well made not like laggy Android interface.
I plan to use it until it dies in my hands :D just the idea of switching to android makes me sick!

I've used one two WPs, 720 and 735.
The 720 lasted only 1 year before it started showing hiccups with charging. It left me with quite bad taste. But that time I still like WPs.
I've moved next to 735, and it's been with me for more than 3 years (about 4 years I think). Now it's starting to show it age since the wifi doesn't work properly anymore. But the cellular recept is still great. I'm using it as a back up phone.
WP was a nice os. It's smooth, new design, but had failed to attract developers. Since the most basic apps are all missing. The store is plagued with fake/clone apps. From my experience, that what pushed me away from any further WPs.

Btw, my Lumia 950XL is getting update right now. Probably security patch. But then again, i got 2 years system updates and will get 2 years security updates (until dec, 2019). That's more than any Android device EVER got.

How disgraceful. Aren't they worried about the bad taste it will leave in peoples mouths. A little bit bad here, a little bit bad there and so on in different areas, and you soon have a heap of people with a bad taste speaking to others. Security update, and especially the backup too, should have continued.
Whatever happened to the surface phone? They need to have the guts to continue on and keep trying, in sensible ways. They big problem for Microsoft was the interface, and the software and feature base. Microsoft has a history of throwing things up and killing them off. I come across people still are not happy with Windows 10, and these are professionals that know the difference. Another was Windows 8, another Millennium. But light weight not as easy or functional (especially compromising gui functionalities in things like selecting copying and moving files, and others which windows xp and 7 did better) metro apps and preferences in windows 10, compared to Windows 7, sucked severely. I remember back in the 90's they introduced a light operating mode of APIs fur gaming (before direct x). Sounds like metro, of the day, didn't survive. Careful meticulous well directed planning from observation of and interaction testing with users, is needed, as well as brilliant insight and direction. It doesn't matter if it looks like how Android or Apple does it, as long as it is better. They should have designed the interface for professional business users to work fast and comprehensively, so as not to loose business customers. To have this option so such uses buy a phone and switch to the productivity GUI away from the twitter sphere gui, and smile. They also needed a way to make at least all normal windows games work on the phone, through a new cross capability api subset and a remapper.
It looks like we still have Windows 9 under windows 10. I'm hoping that the next Windows is a reboot called Windows X, as a true alternative to Windows 7, maybe then we can get back on the Right track before Windows 11.
