A friend is artist and they earn per 1000 listeners a whopping 14 cents and have to share with the rest of the band. So no never premium spotify. I buy the album by calling or mailing the artist.

Alex, 09 Feb 2019And again, why would i pay for "unlimited access to all the... moremusic production is their job and they have to be paid for their job. if your copies of music in your memory card are legal, then well and good, but if you want to be able to have access to music whichever device you use that doesn't have your memory card in it then you will have to pay. music production is not something that's done out of thin air- there are equipments and talents that needs to be purchased or rented, you have to pay for electricity, you also need to pay for a recording studio if you don't own one, and lastly you have to pay the record labels to publish your music; all of those need money. a musician cannot simply just give away their works for free when it has cost them money to produce them. just think of the platform as a way for you to enjoy music even if you don't have your memory card with you- if you don't want to pay nor be bothered by ads then simply don't use the service. be contented with your music files in your memory card.

Shanti Dope, 09 Feb 2019Then what can you say about YouTube (especially Vevo) that ... morelast time i heard youtube has ads, music videos in youtube are licensed and are paid for by ads played before the video or paid for by subscription (youtube music/youtube red); and the copying of the links to convert to mp3 in some apps is illegal. there in fact is no app on playstore or appstore that allows you to convert youtube videos into mp3s. in other countries (i.e the u.s.) converting youtube into mp3s or using torrents will have your internet service be disconnected and you be served a search warrant and/or even an arrest if you violated more than 5 times (i have worked for a major u.s. isp for 4 years and their fcc use a software similar to a virus to detect illegal drm activities; that's how serious they are with protecting the rights of artists and copyright owners. that's something we must also enforce here in the philippines to help our music industry. i am an artist myself and have once worked for the local music industry as a producer (early 2000s for 6 years)- artists are in the industry to monetize their talent/works, and obtaining copies of their works by illegal means is like robbing them. thus, the term "piracy". i mean, for as little as PHP149 (around US$ 2.75) a month you already can enjoy millions of music legally and even download up to 10,000 songs to each of your devices, so what's there to complain about? otherwise, a measly 1MB spent on ads every after 5-10 songs is also not that much to dent your data allowance, right? by using a local artist's name here, i believe you should feel a need to support him buy listening to his music legally. i have several of his songs downloaded on the spotify app in both my pocophone f1 and razer phone because i respect him and love his works. if you dig an artist's works, you should pay them respect by only consuming their works legally.

And it's our job to support them so that they get their own needs or necessities. If you don't want to support the artist, then simply uninstall the app don't ever use it and just go with torrent. Simple as that.

There's this thing called "copy link" and "YouTube to MP3 converter" that anyone can use anytime.
Spotify has too many restrictions in its unpaid version of its app. Some ads for every song is fine, but not giving the ability to play the desired music is just ridiculous. Some people only want to listen to the music and not need the highest quality, so even a low quality music will be fine.
