Gloc 9, 19 Feb 2019Nah, here's the possibility on what's gonna happen on most ... moreYou should know that for most apps it doesn't matter what display size the device has, because a good developer will make the app RESPONSIVE. That means the menus and everything you see on the display will FIT THE DISPLAY and won't look distorted or with those black lines you're referring to. For 3D apps you will have more rendering and a wider view actually.
The only place you'll probably find the black bars will be when viewing videos that don't have that resolution and you want to watch them in their native one. Big whoop! I watch all videos stretched on my S8+ and actually enjoy them like that.
Unless you do image analysis for work, which you probably shouldn't do on such a small device anyway, you won't be bothered.
If you find an app that looks bad, blame it's developers for doing lousy coding, not the phone itself.

I am a Huawei phone fan disappointed by Galaxy S8 before but now waiting for this Sony flagship to be an option with the incoming P30 series. Lure me Sony with a sensible pricing other than your specs. -,-

I'm definitely interested about XZ4's display. Tall displays are so much better for using 2 apps in the same time.
It seems all that these haters do on their phones is watching videos. Go buy a feature phone since you're not using the SMART part of a smartphone and all you can think about it 16:9 videos.
I was planning to upgrade my S8+ to the S10+, but the selfie camera ruins everything. Looks like I'm going to buy Sony XZ4 after all.

That latest teaser from Sony is called "Speed of Light" which I think is a direct reference to 5G or the maybe even the camera.

Which is one of few real advantages of such a wide screen.

So many people bashing Sony's new phones before even seeing it... thats dumb you know.
you have to see it and try it then judge it.
the fact is.. if this was (for example) samsung post or apple post and you come talk bad at their beloved brand, you well see them commenting somethings like: "go back to your mobile phone posts, this is apple/samsung... " . meanwhile, they come and post toxic comments to other brands posts, AND.... you want you to simply accept it.
the more they hate this new phone.... the more they prove how successful it is... even before it was released.
