Mark, 25 Feb 2019Pardon me being not clear. |Not saying Note 9 is bad. Its... morewell from what I know U11 has the same camera hardware as the Pixel 2, so the GCam port is VERY compatible with the phone.

This phone is purely for photography nothing else.
Also I think that there is reason for no OIS.
If you are using all 5 cameras to take the picture. It could be impossible to calibrate the sensors so that the pixels are stacking OR they would need some crazy expensive OIS that moves ALL cameras same time and into same direction.

It would be interesting to see how older phones like S8 series, note 8, iPhone 8 series, Pixel 2 series compare to this Nokia 9. I guess there are enough people out there who own these phones and are thinking about upgrading. I do own an S8, but except for the ultrasonic UD fingerprint scanner from the new S10 I don't have any reason to upgrade. Maybe this camera setup...

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2019I don't know why she is not happy with her note 9 photos. T... morePardon me being not clear. |Not saying Note 9 is bad. Its just that it didnt seem to have that much pop compared to what my HTC U11 with pixel 3 apk cam.
Personally, I didn't care much about the phone camera as I always let my wife do the photography when we need one or want one. But I can't part with my U11 now if I can't get the same or better cam. Just my opinion.
HTC Cam is great as well, but I like the pixel 3 cam installed. I always have random positive feedback when I take photos with friends, how good the pic and the pop it has.

jef, 25 Feb 2019i suggest you buy DSLR instead He is only interested in sell you the phone, not in photography. This thread even is not related to Samsung. Another comercial from Nokia. But the benefict of use that fixed sensors has a lot drawbacks too. So their real use with great results is very narrow. I'll be funny watch the quality of video recorded. The pictures taken while recording, etc. A more while you are walking or running following a target. Or where the wind and conditions do not allow you to be immobile and with a firm hand to avoid shaking.

jef, 25 Feb 2019i suggest you buy DSLR instead I already have one, and have years worth of experience in photography. It's why I'm not speaking out of my ass when I say these photos are, on the technical aspect, great. Compared to what phones (and Nokia especially) usually achieve.

Speed, dynamic range, stacking, OIS, brighter lenses, pro controls, etc. But let's not forget dram, and dual pixel focus, and probably a couple others I cant think of.

Mark, 25 Feb 2019Thats really interesting.
Last night ive been trying to... moreI don't know why she is not happy with her note 9 photos. They are among the best. Definitely comparable to the pixel 3.
In they sense that they all look like low res processed crap I don't like any of them. But in ability, speed, quality, dynamic range as far as phones go note 9 is way up there.
And pro mode with my own processing is even better in most cases.
The only issue that seems like has ban handled decently with the s10 possibly is their auto exposure is a little higher than the rest. But it's a simple tap to fix. Touch screen and boom. Exposure adjusted, you get a slider to manually adjust to perfection if need be, and some of the best quality available.
But everyone's processing desire differ.
I use my note 9 and especially my 808 a lot
