"Apple’s entry into the Qi wireless charging standard with the iPhone 8 marked the widespread popularity of the feature. Since then, many phone makers have brought wireless charging on their flagship smartphones including Samsung, Huawei, LG, Xiaomi, and Razer – just to name a few."
There is so much wrong with this statement, it's pathetic. Samsung and LG has had this feature forever before Apple did. Please hire a proof-reader before submitting incredibly misleading junk like this.
As for this news, guess I'm skipping OnePlus again. I honestly only wanted wireless charging for the convenience and to save the USB-C port from overuse since they did the stupid thing by removing the headphone jack. Oh well. Glad LG and ZTE have stepped it up this year.

piku, 27 Feb 2019With current feature set getting a one plus device is waste... moreAgreed. In India, OnePlus 6T 256GB version costs INR46,000 whereas LG V40 costs INR50,000. By paying only INR4,000 more, I can get wireless charging, far better camera, best multimedia experience, water and dust proofing, expandable storage, military grade chassis. OnePlus is shit now. They seem to have settled. Only thing that OnePlus changes in every iteration is chipset, that's it!

Wow, that's disappointing, given the fact that they've omitted it on the OnePlus 6/6T despite having a glass back, so this shouldn't be an excuse. If I'm not wrong, they gave the same reason as to why they've omitted wireless charging on the OnePlus 6/6T, mainly because it ain't as fast as wired charging, which I do have to agree. But still, looking at the increasing number of high-end flagships hopping on the wireless charging bandwagon, even for the cheaper ones like the recently announced XIAOMI MI 9 (which is cheaper than the OnePlus 6T in launch price), it puts OnePlus in a somewhat tough spot

Whackcar, 27 Feb 2019OnePlus has lost it's competitive edge it used to have. The... moreThey now have an extremely loyal fan base and arguably the best implementation of Android in Oxygen OS. They also support their devices extensively, even 3 and 3T r getting Pie within the next month. This means that they now have enough pull to get customers even without being as competitive as they used to be.

personally I can still hold off wireless charging, but if OP7 doesn't have waterproof rating of at least IP68 then seriously don't bother making this expensive non flagship garbage OnePlus

OnePlus has lost it's competitive edge it used to have. Their slogan "Never Settle" just doesn't apply anymore. They're losing appeal with each new device. Competition is offering the same for less, so why would someone choose OnePlus for more? They should be offering more premium features to stand out from the overcrowded smartphone marketplace...
Oh, and don't get me started on the whole fake dual camera thing. They better put a ultrawide or tele this time.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2019#bringbackthe3.5mm jack please on OnePlus 7But Chinese fans said that 3.5mm headphone jack is not essential and outdated. Therefore, they said ancient technologies must not exist in modern smartphones

Just having a beer, 27 Feb 2019Profit? Yes of course! Company can't exist without one, so ... moreYeah.. keep the cost down. So tell me, why is the price increasing per year instead of maintaining or reducing? Thanks to all these cost cutting measures?
Simple, its in Lau's pockets! Once you gave in to such people, they will continue to give excuses and charge more for less!

Samsung and LG have had wireless charging before Apple LG G3 had it and Samsung S5 (though it required a special back cover)

Profit? Yes of course! Company can't exist without one, so stop crying people.
Wireless charging isn't just popular enough and handy enough for them to fit it in. They would have to pay fees and parts for every single user even they may not use it. Why include it, if it won't be used by most users?
OnePlus offers devices that is packed with most needed stuff. This keeps costs down. It has some features that are cost efficient as well. But that is all. If you people want everything in the phone, even you may not use it, get Samsung. And pay for it 😁😁

Come the Pocofone F2, bye bye OnePlus.
The only thing keeping them alive is the rabid fanbase of OnePlus.

Nice excuse they have...
One thing that's keeping me from getting OPPO phone is lack of wireless charging, i don't care so much about super speed cable charging because of gimmick, in wireless i just put phone on charger on desk when im working or in car wireless charger, that way is more conviniant and i got almost always more than 3/4 battery

Mr Lau, just say you want more profit or say nothing at all. Stop with the excuses, especially when it make no sense. Same excuse for notches.. and jackless.
Its like saying, WE will not release any 4k display because 4k videos are lacking.

BBK stuck in past with this overpriced and overhyped OnePlus. They increasing price with every phone that doesn't bring something new or exceptional. So if they will add both wireless charging and 5g, cost of manufacturing will increase more. They are too greedy to sell phones with less margin. So will install wireless charging next time to excuse traditional 20-30$ price increase for 7t.

Sure, can't fit a wireless charging system in the 550$ + price range but Xiaomi can fit a 20W one in the 450$ one. Lot of corners cut for the 6 and 6T and still increased the price significantly. Call me disappointed.
I think I'll go for the Mi9 for my next phone. Simply better package for less money. Only think I'll miss is Oxygen OS.
I really seems that OnePlus settled...

A lot of cars are adding wireless charging, other devices too, and their bases can charge your phone too. So now you can forget if you are carring the f***** cable or not, the more commong they'll be the more comfortable for you to simply put the phone above one of them along the day while you work, drive, etc, and have your phone always on and with enough charge!

OnePlus has the time to redesign the insides of the phone. Anything they can do to make the motherboard jam packed and smaller, batteries bigger while finally having enough space to add the headphone jack. They can do that!
