Redmi Note 7 fails spectacularly at an actual durability test

27 February 2019
The phone has plenty of weak build points, despite what some Chinese influencers suggested earlier.

I do not keep my phone in my back pocket and I do not sit on it.
No worries for me. Still want one.

At drop this would be great because it has gorilla glass 5 at the front and especially back

Actually glad that he did that.
Sometimes I seriously feel why Xiaomi needs to do stupid things like those skating or hammering videos of RN7. Don't they know that at less than 150$ they are providing the best VFM device, by a distance, and people will buy it, maybe in even more numbers, if they wouldn't have done those stupid ads.
Maybe with the negative publicity that this gets them, they'll learn the next time.

Okay, so that means after buying the phone I should not sit on it and bend it.

I switched to Huawei just for this build quality issue . I ride motobikes a lot and my redmi note 3, redmi note 4x and redmi 5 all bent in my pocket . With slightest of bend, the redmi 5 touch screen started to malfunction . I use p20 lite and s8 now . Previously s7 edge, s5, s3, s2 . None bent in my pocket like these xiaomi redmi series did . And the marketing stunt by them is just total bs.

Gauron, 27 Feb 2019Metal, at this price point? Get real people. At this price... moreActually until last year or so a metal body was common, even on quite budget phones. The Redmi phones themselves were metal, although with plastic ends. I'm actually surprised that plastic seems to be making a comeback lately, as it seemed to have gone out of style pretty hard before.

Lying Xiaomi CEO part two. I hope this cheap campaign will RN 7 durability will cost him a fortune.

Oof... hard to imagine how in the world they managed to get their shtick together for the Mix series, Mi 6 (onwards), Note 5 and 6 after a myriad of Christmas crackers (OK, maybe the very first Notes and Mi 3 were a bit sturdier than the fake metal Note 3 atrocity and Mi 5, "the weakest link" :D) and failed again this time...

This will not be a big problem , if you are careful and want all its features for that price tag . Just buy it

Otherwise i would have wasted my money. I don't use mobile with cases or screen protection. so it is very essential for me to have a phone with very good build quality. My Nokia 6.0 has survived a minimum of 30 drops in 15months.. on road, steps, from table.. Working like new phone still..

But its sad all that marketing from Xiaomi in the last month about sturdiness od Note 7.
Plastic fantastic (frame) is still plastic, and on tall phone is easy to bend.

All I'm trying to explain here, is why xiaomi (or redmi) has shifted from a design that worked pretty well, to a newer one that is less durable but more attractive. I don't agree with it, but it is what it is, even Samsung are doing it with the A series.
