I have Redmi Note 4x that didn't pass Jerry's test neither. Every phone I had I put in case and pasted on a protection glass.
If there is a reason as why not to buy Redmi Note 7 it's the fugly notch, not that it failed some useless test.

Just asking, 27 Feb 2019 Sorry It's twittetedI don't know what circumstance the India scene have right now, but JerryRig aka Zack do these tests whenever there's a demand for it and got the said unit on his hand. As I said, I think this is purely coincidental. Xiaomi phones doesn't only revolve in your world.

I don't have any problem with RN7 failing at durability test. It is just that they first bragged about how durable the phone is just to make people fool. Agreed that they are offering 18 months warranty in China, but I doubt these bending and shattering of glass is covered (or maybe it does)
The fact is, this extended warranty seems to be a poor and desperate strategy to influence people to buy this phone. Very few people bend or break their phones on purpose so it does not matter whether the actual warranty period is 12 months or 18 months.
Redmi also used a false advertising when Samsung M10 and M20 launched, bragging about how old PLS TFT display is, even when it is basically just a variant of LCD display.

I doubt HMD Nokia paid Zack to prove that EVERY SINGLE Nokia phone that underwent his test would survive - 100% no dead phone rate, something which cannot be said about Xiaomi, sadly.

Gauron, 27 Feb 2019Metal, at this price point? Get real people. At this price... moreGiven how big and "efficient" Xiaomi is, I doubt that this $150 phone would instantly become a $200-250+ phone if more metal was used for proper structural rigidity...

Just asking, 27 Feb 2019There are few questions rising in my mind
1. Why the hell ... more1. Redmi Note 7 is the most requested in his past videos. He probably got the phone recently from China since it's not available globally yet. I believe it's purely coincidental.
2. It just shows that he is exerting considerable amount of force, and it's evident in all of his bend tests. You might want to try it yourself using your phone if want to prove it false.
3. We probably won't even know what's the scope that warranty covers, but I bet intentionally breaking it isn't included there.
4. IDK, if the phone is at risk bending that bad then you might want to use it with care or add a protection.

There are few questions rising in my mind
1. Why the hell he posted this video on day before the launch of Redmi note 7 in India ? which is tomorrow
2. Why the hell his hand shaking so much ? is just what I watched or its illusion? If not illusion then smartly done.
3. If this phone is so weak why the hell Xiaomi gave 18 month warranty in China?
4. What now Chinese people started fooling Chinese people ?

At this price you can either get a sturdy phone with poor features or a feature packed phone with an only passable body. Let's be honest, before these tear-downs and torture tests became a thing on YouTube, people didn't know whether their phone was durable or at least did not risk finding out.

I have seen many Xiaomi phones being bent due to being in back pocket, or on the couch when people sat over it.
Also the recent glass backed phones are getting their back glasses broke being on back pocket.
I am now afraid to move on from my Nokia 6. Hope the industry moves away from glass backed phones sooner

Walter C. Dornez, 27 Feb 2019Maybe, but even then, that's not really arguing anything. The idea is when a phone is subjected to flex, it might get damaged depending on how much force is applied and how many times it flexed. On this particular, Zack always flex the phone twice with a considerable amount of force. The first flex alone have done a considerable damage to the plastic frame, while flexing it again on the opposite direction will result to permanent damage to the phone in which is what we have witnessed. The thing is, any phone WILL eventually break down if it's been subjected to flex. It might take a million times of pocket flex before it starts to malfunction, but it eventually will. To cut it short, Zack hastens up the process.
