Redmi Note 7 fails spectacularly at an actual durability test

27 February 2019
The phone has plenty of weak build points, despite what some Chinese influencers suggested earlier.

Wait. Listen. That's the sound of Redmi's downfall in India and across the world. Samsung's back, and they're taking over. ALL. PRICE. SEGMENTS. Let's bid a collective adieu. Bye Bye Redmi

Kind of expecting that if Zack would put it to the test. The frame is made of plastic, though even with metal supporting it, the holes will be it's weak point since the reinforcement ends there.

As long as there is an endless supply of suckers, the company and such products will thrive.

He had to break his fingers almost,to break the phone!

It is still a budget phone folks! You can also bend an ipad pro wich cost much more!

It is still a very good device for it's price!

Andy, 27 Feb 2019This is why a metal frame is important. It helps bend resistanceOr getting a strong plastic is needed. Why making the phone so slim is bad and that is the reason too.

Meanwhile the Galaxies M10 and M20 failed on similar tests too.

Soon the Moto G7 Play will join them

If you ever see a Nokia doing that, then you can really start talking about overpricing.

Whackcar, 27 Feb 2019It's a cheap phone, so why would you expect a good build qu... moreBuild quality is great, i just cant imagine when would these situations (violent bending) happen in real life. Even if you sit while the phone is in your pocket, you can not "produce" enough force to cause that kind of plastic deformation, only elastic - which means the phone will "unbend" once the applied force subsides. This will never happen in real life situation so there is no need to be afraid of bending the phone.

It's time to reduce the price for this phone Xiaomi!

Hey, remember that this is a phone that undercuts rivals in several key areas. Somethings got to give, which in this case is build quality. But the good thing is that a rugged case will solve this issue.

What Xiaomi advertised is just the strength of the glass since its using Corning Gorrila Glass 5 not the whole phone. Bending is different than stomping, throwing or using it as a walnut cracker. Kinda disappointed they cheaped on the frame and yet they can throw in a 48 MP camera and the screen glass protection. However, it's still great value for your money. As long as you don't bend it, you'll be fine.

I have no problems with it now and works good. Makes very ok pictures for my taste and battery last long. Performance is very good too for that price range.
I like only mate black color. I have had one blue phone that was nokia 5210 and one 2 other nokia phones with white color. But i like it to be matte black and no glass. Either full plastic edge to back or then metal same. Glass is fragile even on flagships and we cant complain about quality in there. Glass is luxury material for phones to make them look cool but most cover it with case anyway. So who cares what the phone looks like afterwards.

Even if the device is cheap, manufacturers shouldn't sacrifice build quality.

With plastic edge and glass back it was expected to bend like that and break on the weak points with holes.

Still impressive for a $150 phone
