Is X originaly by Huawei? Why Oppo got same design with X

Imo Fold is better more practical and more beautiful

Since there is no glass over it, so foldables will be prone to scratches. I do think the concept is the next evolution for smartphones/tablets though. The concept combines them. The potential is there.

We all need to remember back in 2007 that not everyone accepted touchscreens. Many still wanted tactile feedback from the BlackBerry. It was very difficult to type on that original iPhone early on with auto-corrections. And with a "3.5 display which was big for its time, it was also quite large especially the width.

We're just in the infancy of foldables. It probably won't see that much polished or commercialism until at least 2-3 years later. I actually do like Huawei's concept more than Samsung's. People can call Huawei another Chinese copycat but how Samsung did it was inferior. An awkward gap. The small outside display when closed. Huawei just did it better.

As usual, Michael Fisher explained it the best...

The only thing I see people complaining about the F over the X is that it has a smaller screen when folderd, and this small screen has bezels. This can be fixed in the 2nd gen very easy.

The X has more things to complain about.
-The screen is folded around the phone, so if it is an amoled screen you gen burn-ins on one half of the display.
-Folding screens are made au of plastic not glass, so it is very easy to scratch it (front and back), or even break the display it you put it in your poket and aply pressure, or sit on it.
-When unfolded you don't have selfie cameras, for a video call for exaple.
-It is way to big when folded and beats the concept of folding the phone to make it complact and 1 handed use when you want it to, and a big display when you unfold it.

So, the Samsung has a much more practical design.

Both are useless gimmicks. You can buy great laptop in that price.

Galaxy Fold is a first gen product and is bound to have few niggles here and there, so does Mate X. But, where Galaxy Fold is lot better is that, in practicality. Mate X's outwards screen lies in harms way whenever the dreaded fall happens. Replacing this kind of screen is extremely pricey. Design wise it may look good, but practically not safe. But, as a first gen products, both should be overlooked for now.

All these people saying that a bezel less 6.6" screen is too big in 2019 are hilarious

I personally think Galaxy Fold is more practical for daily use as it fold inside & the screen is protected. Mate X is more on show & it's durability as compared to G.Fold. Maybe next generations of G.Fold, Mate X or other foldable phones will improves in durability, looks, weight & etc.

Huawei is pretty impractical, but the Samsung is horrendeous, I wouldn't use that 4.6inch 21:9 screen even if you paid me millions, except maybe for phone calls and nothing other than that, I wouldn't even be able to type on that joke of a screen.
But if Motorola releases that Razr folding phone, it would become the king of stupid, that has 2 useless screens, because the one inside is the same as on any normal phone, so makes no sense to fold it and get all the disadvantages of a foldable phone.

Huawei's EMUI is the ugliest skin ever to date on a phone. Every part of it is pure trash! Never gonna buy a huawei again...

Anonymous, 01 Mar 2019Pot calling the kettle black, com'on both flexible screens ... moreNice analysis!!

                                      Just one thing:
Let us await the scratch tests, and we will all know which design is bad....

There are no known materials that are BOTH hard and flexible, so an unprotected flexible screen are bound to be prone for scratches.

Sure Huawei's designs LOOKS better - as long as you do not intend to use the device out in reality.... (apart from folding on the short and not long direction of the 16:10 would have been better)

The BEST thing would be a 16:9 device that in three parts folded as a Z but could ALSO close in on it self as an "e". I expect it will be at least a year or two more before we get that....
