The huawei had a visible crease when open on stage, and your calling the fold a bad product? Sorry what? Both designs are totally new tech and will need a few generations to improve and are not perfect in any way, but to call a product that retails at $800 less then yours bad is just shameless bashing

Galaxy Fold is fugly. Too many cameras, tiny 4.6 screen. It's a shit design. Huawei has the futuristic design. Once they make these screens super durable, Huawei's design will take over.

Huawei CEO thinks his flexing phone is better than Samsung Galaxy Fold. But fact is, he did not think very practically.

            - Fold inwards protect the flexible screen.
            - Large screen behind when folded, makes mate x more scratch friendly.
            - Hard to use as a phone when folded.
            - "Mate X" tells you nothing about a foldable device.. It simply copied X everywhere.. yeah.. X from iPhone.. X this X that.

Samsung Fold is the future, I bet he will copy the fold design next.. and call it XF.. What a joke and weak explanation.. "Heavy" ... lol what's 5 to 10 grams? Can't even carry that? ...

Both Huawei and Samsung fold-phone have advantage and cons. If it fall down will the screen get crack or scratched. For that price any damage will mad you. So why don't they talk about the durability!?

Riaz Madappally, 01 Mar 2019Samsung design is more practical. Huawei design looks good ... moreHuawei kids complain about "zomg bezels" while not realizing the mate X's design essentially makes one half of the folding screen useless when folded. Which begs the question, what's the use of the foldable screen? Absolutely nothing. Pathetic Huawei being pathetic.

Paying 2,800 usd for an outward foldable phone that will damage the screen faster. Money is what the CEO wants by making it beautiful without thinking about the other aspects

Samsung design is more practical. Huawei design looks good but it is not practical

For me, Samsung design looks more premium and practical. Mate X when is unfolded you can't use it for video chat because all the cameras are behind. And I don't want to think about the scratches..

Walter C. Dornez, 01 Mar 2019Its a more practical and durable design. It's not unfinishe... moreFact of the matter is that both of the foldable phones are made for very rich consumers who obviously have too much money to burn. As such, these people are more likely to buy the Mate X as its undoubtedly the better looking device of the two. These people won't care that the Mate X is more prone to scratches or damage, as if it comes to that, they can simply buy a new one.

Personally though, i wouldn't even consider buying these foldables until they mature as a tech & their prices settle down.

Galaxy Fold is cool with 6 camera and Front screen.

For someone who will pay 2000 USD for a phone, I don't think the durability would really matter to them. They most likely would have a second phone as well for their daily use. It's mostly tech enthusiasts and rich people who will but these phones.
or now they are both test beds for the future. We'll have to wait to see how they actually perform in real life.

The question is fold inward or outward is best for the screen?

So surprised that Huawei CEO thinks that way. I thought he will tell Samsung design is better than his own product.

Until manufacturers start using new material for the display surface, Fold's design is actually a lot better choice because inward folding design prevents the display from receiving microscratches. Huawei's design requires you to use the official full protection case as well which costs extra $$$ on top of its already extravagant $2600 price tag. When it comes to usability as a phone, of course outfolding design of Mate X takes the cake for having a larger display(who would want to use 4.6 inch 21:9 aspect ratio display on Fold, like seriously).

At this point it's utterly pointless to say which design is overall superior to the other as current foldable phones are all expensive gimmicky garbage that are plagued by loads of long term durability issues, but Huawei's design works better once all the problems regarding the display are cleared up in future. It allows for thinner body and better ergonomics as well.

I strongly disagree with the CEO though, as Galaxy Fold definitely doesn't have a "bad" design by any mean.

BiyoBiyo JunJun, 01 Mar 2019but samfold design really bad .. looks like unfinish product Its a more practical and durable design. It's not unfinished, it was made with the idea that it's just a first gen product meant to begin the dawn of foldables. Yeah, the Huawei looks better, but its crease is much worse and the display has no protection.
