Design wise, yes indeed Mate X better. Durability wise, definitely the Fold. I dont mind the 6.6 inch in Mate X phone mode, as its bezelless & pretty much almost the same flagship phone size nowadays. Its lighter, thinner, and that Leica triple camera is a bonus which Samsung has no answer for.
But does it justify the price? Not at all...the Fold & Mate X is just a statement on new technology hybrid between phone & tablet. Until this type of device become mainstream, i wont buy neither of them lol.

The fact that the Huawei CEO expressing his preference screams bias. It's obvious that he should prefer his own product over the competition.

Huawei CEO is half right IMO. Fold design surely is more ugly. But functionality its many times better.
Fold Design allows for:
1. One hand operation
2. Reverse Wireless Charging
3. Inner screen protection + tempered glass protection to external screen.
But i believe in the beginning, huawei might draw in more customers, due to the bezels and eye catcher design. But in the end, people will move to fold for functionality. Then the CEO will eat his words and copy the exact design.

I agreed with the Huawei Ceo. Having 2 separate screens in 1 device is kinda a waste/inefficient. Xiaomi and Huawei fold phones are better than samsung in term of design. Fold and light off half of the screen woalah you got phone, turn on full of the screen you got tablet.

galaxy fold has more common sense than the mate x , even though the design is not much better than the mate x,
G fold= from phone to tablet, tablet to phone
Mate X= from tablet to tablet, tablet to tablet

I mean yes the overall design for Mate X is nice and kudos to them for making that way, but I still prefer the Fold. It's still a phone by default that can turns into a tablet, not a tablet turns into a bigger tablet. Also, it looks more sleek and durable compared to the "all screen".

another flop by samsung/lg/huwie...etc/crap crap...just like samsung curve display fails in tv. actually there is saturation in INNOVATION by these companies....real innovation is like sony"s image stack sensor/ 1st 960fps/ 4k oled master monitor display/ 3d real audio/ 1st hdr video/screen/ this is what we call innovation....not like bending curving

I really cant see the purpose of the mate. As a "phone" is too big, so it breaks the point of having a tablet in the first place (is a phablet already). Unfolded is 1:1 which means is no good for anything beyond reading, maps and photos... and most people use tablet for multimedia and gaming, this will just waste a lot of space in black bars...

He does has a point, size/weight/screen wise folded state Mate X's is basically a bezel-less phone, while G Fold is more a portable pad. I dont think anyone will use G Fold as daily used smartphone.
