So it makes no sense to think that Huawei wanted to lower LG's reputation so hard to the level they would end up hurting their own brand image.

              Samsung also make bad screens as well as the best..... I've had many Samsung screens with poor colour uniformity....banding.... Crushed blacks... Colour shifting etc etc

              They probably turned to Samsung and paid more after LG messed up the mate 20 Pro screens with the green screen issues... But... Even Samsung struggle with amoled perfection and the most recent bad Samsung screen I saw was actually on a mate 20x just a few days ago

                    panels from samsung means expensive parts, which means expensive devices, in addition to expensive replacement parts, in addition to poor software updates, in addition to poor EMUI interface, and so on.... i mean, come on huawei, you need to be better at this. your services are getting worse with passage of time as your devices are getting expensive like the other manufacturers....

                      Anonymous, 17 Mar 2019everyone have to accept that samsung is king of oledbelieve me they know but its hard for them to admit it, samsung should have never provided their oled panels to huawei, i know its business at the end of the day, but look at huawei they wont sell their hiliscon chip to no other company! and samsung is now selling their exynos chipset to motorola and now realme if am not mistaking sammy is making money they dont care, the more the merrier:)

Vice versa, a lot of consumers and tech reviewers place XZ3 screen on top of food chain. Of course Sony inner magic (Triluminos, X-Reality, etc) has to play role but still. Haven't heard about faulty XZ3 screen yet.

                              You dont hire a company that makes bad components unless you dont care or want to save money or both.
                              LG can make good panels, you just need to have a stricter quality control and pay more for the good stuff.

That's why they learnt their lesson this time around and is opting for Samsung instead, which is a far more reliable company when it comes to OLED production.

Samsung used to produce WQHD panels for Chinese companies like ZTE or Meizu when 16:9 aspect ratio was still popular, but they stopped doing that when 18:9 became the new trend, only allowing them to use FHD+ panels instead. Apple is special because they design their OLED by themselves and is only letting Samsung to produce the panels for them as Apple's instructions say(and that's why iPhone X/XS' OLED display shows blue shift when viewed from an angle, where Samsung's AMOLED shows green-rainbow shimmer - different polarizer design).
