16 March 2019
It's also believed to be the sole supplier for the panels.

Is Huawei's fault for not having a higher quality bar. They accepted LG's panel as they come, maybe even they dont care or were stingy to pay more for more quality.

"The wisdom of wolves " enlighten me, Huawei CEO tend to cut down the cost even more because Samsung is well on bargain/offer to seize the display markets. Huawei CEO has said if the phone is great don't worry nobody buy it but he doesn't say cut down the costs is their strategy to seize the phone markets.

Why would Huawei or any rational company do this?.

LG isn't even in the same league as Huawei in the smartphone industry. Huawei's main competitors is Apple and Samsung. LG is a major player in the OLED TV business and Huawei doesn't even sell TVs currently. There's no conflict of interest here, LG just made crappy screens.

Side by side on 4k video on youtube I see no difference in display quality.... I switched for other reasons, but Mate 20 Pro display is gourgeous

Many people are engaged into buying the Mate 20 Pro, so those who got faulty units will have to deliberately ask from Huawei to fix their phones. And you know what it means for them; profit.....
They made the minority of their units to have LG screen, which is intentionally made in lower quality in attempts to degrade the work of LG, which is clearly a strategy to ruin other businesses.

LG may not be any competitor to Huawei, but they still post some threat to China since their OLED screens are much superior to any Chinese OLED screens and even Samsung AMOLED panels to many extent. (Xperia XZ3's LG-made P-OLED display is much more preferred by the average consumers than the Super AMOLED display of the Galaxy Note 9).

They intentionally tried to make the LG screens inferior to prove that LG, in general, has poor quality control

Funny enough, many people actually found Mate 20 Pro units with LG screens to have a much more beautiful look than those with BOE panels.

BOE cant meet Huaweis demand for the flagship .. and they dont wanna use LG again, so they are basically forced to go with samsung

LG Superfan, 17 Mar 2019I think its from Sharp or someother japanese firmSharp is a possible supplier. JDI doesn't produce enough OLED screens to supply Sony's demand for their panels on the XZ3, let alone Xperia 1, so there's that.
Maybe LG provided that as well, since P-OLED sounds similar to what LG is using in their smartphones, and quite logical for their Xperia team to trust on them since their Bravia team already did for their TVs.

Knogreeme, 17 Mar 2019It is rumoured that sony outsourced their 4k oled panels fr... moreXperia XZ3's display is P-OLED, which is not the same as what Samsung produces in their factories. If anything, it might've been LG's panel, and it's much more logical since Sony's Bravia team also partnered with LG to produce their OLED TV panels for their new OLED TVs.
And I say this because we can assume that Sony also utilized the same OLED manufacturer for their Xperia XZ3 to the new Xperia 1 as well.
Might be different though, as 4K and OLED on a smartphone screen size is pretty difficult to be achieved.
