Anonymous, 31 Mar 2019Because XZ3 oled screen is made by LG, from South Korea.Sony makes drivers for the panel as well as software portion. Panel as panel could be crap when implemented or could be the best ever. It's not a plug and play game like many think it is.

Sony has all the technology from Music, Cameras, TV, the brand itself still does hold a lot of weight. They do have money to advertise and invest. However they are not popular. The only fans they had I see all the time write you dropped the headphone jack so you have lost me! They were unique with the fingerprint sensor on the side and headphone jack front firing stereo speakers up till XZ1.... Now all phones look the same from any brand. Only Asus Asrock looks unique!

Their problem is not cutting jobs. It's the fact that they have the name/brand recognition, technology, power, and money to be in top. Challenging Samsung, Apple, and Huawei for the top in tech and sales.
Yet for some reason the mobile division is either managed by people who are terrible at making decisions and should never be in such a position. Or the parent branches of the company are terrible at business decisions and hold them down. Or both.

Instead of these market leading devices we get devices that are just good enough but slack in some aspects.
Yet the prices are still up there. And that was before. Now that they put a tiny bit of effort in upping the game they also did it in the time of very expensive devices and in no way was afraid of raising the prices way more to tying with Google for being the most over priced in android realm.

Make a sensible device worthy of the name Sony, market it, and don't make it the price of a car and your profits will increase. It's so simple. How is it so hard to grasp????

This is insanity. Who is running this company or making the decisions over the mobile division??? And why after so many years of dragging behind do they allow the same horrible decision making to continue.

Cutting jobs and raising prices even more is not what will make things better. In fact it's part of what's making it worse.
Just raising the prices while still crawling to deliver expected standards consistently is going to mean less profit not more.

Making better devices and taking the business seriously for once in many years will help.
You always hold back, you never properly market or release to enough networks were most people get their devices. If they barely know about them and those who do know it lacks in a number of ways they need or want then they are not going out of their way to go online and pay full price for it. Not when they have more readily available devices that they saw advertised, or know has better parts in something. And can get on monthly carrier payments all on one bill.

Not to mention it took them way too many years to address their motherboards from having constant random failures and displays losing touch from the smallest of cracks almost instantly.
And you still can't take advantage of your camera tech or one up everyone while delivering some of the best camera tech around to others. And still can't use ois?
And now you're supposed to be a name in audio but get rid of the jack because of trends and trying to force Bluetooth on users.
And then your u derwhelmimg battery capacities. Oh their backup is good. It is, but it's not magic. Especially at the thickness of their devices and their prices 3300mah is unacceptable. Oh the soc more efficient though. Great so smaller or same as 6 year old capacities with mutlple times the cost is now acceptable? And look what Huawei can fit in such slim devices with larger camera sensors. 4,200mah. And Sony even used oled finally to save more space.
At least they did finally get beautiful oled displays.

Sony is still in the mobile business because of their camera sensor business. They want to show to prospective buyer what their sensor can do.
