Indian people. Change your region to United Kingdom, that shouldn't have ads in the UI. I have a UK region Redmi Note 5 and no ads

You guys can see the device list with codenames by going to the source 1 link at the bottom of the post.
Thankfully only mediatek variant of Redmi Note 4 (Nikel) is discontinued not Snapdragon(mido) one :-)

The Redmi Note 4 for the Indian market just barely passed 2 years old and now it's no longer in line for any MIUI updates

From the top manufacturers Samsung phones are the worst update phones. I had the S3, the A5 2016 and now the last one which was the worst, S9 plus. I had to wait 4 months for Android Pie update. In January 2019 I finally got it. In January 2019, my security patch update was from September 2018. So please don't tell me about Samsung.
P.S. I live in Europe.

Updates don't matter to me on Android. Even Android 4.0 has every single app I use. Might get a Xperia J running on 4.0.4 ICS.

you should be just mentioning that this affects the MTK versions of the most of them only. just to avoid any confusion and over-reactions.

It is normal to stop the support of 3 years old phones, but it is very sad Redmi 4 is in the list since this is the last relatively capable device made to be operated by humans. I bought 20 for the office 6 months ago.
Of course it is not a problem, because they are used mostly for emails and phone calls.

People seem to have small memories. They forget so quickly when Xiaomi brought to the world the Pocophone F1 for just 300$. And they had basically 0 profit from selling the phone at that price.
Sometimes I wonder who are worst, the companies or some people who want everything free if it's possible..

So even xiaomi is going the no-special-treatment-for-budget-phones way.
This does not come as a surprise, almost every other company has the same policy, but should be a bummer for people who bought those devices expecting the usual long update support

That’s the difference between Xiaomi & Nokia. Nokia is updating all their low end & mid range phones launched with Nougat in 2017 to Oreo last year & even Pie this year, along with providing monthly security updates. Phones launched by other OEM’s at that time hardly got Oreo update & no word on Pie. Many of users were blaming Nokia for charging high prices compared to other brands for same specifications. You have to pay that extra price in order to get software support like Nokia.
