Sam, 07 May 2019The cameras. The 3a have good ones. The A40 aren't good for... moreNone of them you speak of will be in A40 dimensions with oled screen. If you want a cam phone you got with the best pixel flagship phone. When you want a bit more compact but does the job for you then A40

where you get better size with decent specs that has oled screen and is priced under 250 euro ? And i dont talk about phones that are not more then half a year old.

        Are people here even serious?
Damn, I'd rather want this over some Chinese products which only sound good on paper but are complete failures when used in reality.

With this, I'm guaranteed to have
-Great security and fantastic software support
-Camera that matches the flagships in every single way
-Good overall experience (OLED screen, stereo speakers, 3.5mm jack, no obtrusive screen cutout, where do you find those for $400 from new mid rangers?)

And knowing Google, this will be just $250 in the next 2 months or so, which will then make it a major challenge against the Redmi, RealMe, Huawei, Honor, Zenfone, Galaxy, or whatever budget offerings are.

Almost 650$ here in India for the XL. I can get the S10e for that money. Easy choice haha

Michael Fisher is correct with his statement.

The Pixel 3a harks back to the Nexus 5 days in 2013. It's probably Google's most affordable smartphone since the 5X in 2015. I think people are overpaying for any phone that cost over $400. I think every base model flagship should start at $399 or less, period. Main reason why I got fed up with the industry.

            My daily drivers
            1. Google Pixel 3 (128 GB / black)
            2. Essential Phone (128 GB / halo gray)

Google + Andy Rubin = Android experience perfection.

Let's see if the Pixel 3a can save Google's hardware business. The fact that it's cheaper and available for alot more carriers is a good thing. For the first three generations, most customers assumed the Pixel was a Verizon-exclusive. Of course you can still buy it in the Google Store but most folks aren't aware of that or much prefer a carrier deal with it.

              Check Mr. Mobile's video
              https://youtu.be/pOPfFcAw7mI

This is going help the Pixel brand than hurt it. Let's not forget, the iPhone was an AT&T-exclusive for the first three generations. It didn't start to be available for all carriers until the iPhone 5 in 2012.

More carrier availability + cheaper = more sales

Google make a one trick pony,.. and a bigger one. Camera.
Phone jack isn't a bringback, based on specs, it's a throwback.
All the rags on FB and Twitter are giving the same "glowing" review, with a slight mention of the slow processor, and no mention of the 4 gigs of ram (except in comp. charts)
MS/Nokia tried the same thing except, MS dropped the ball. There's gonna be fanboys, but the good from this will be Google will be strong-arming devs to keep app requirements down for a couple of years.

                  HTC lives!!!

It really doesn't support band 71 for T-Mobile (according to the specs on gsmarena)? There is no excuse for that. This is more than year old technology. And much cheaper Motorola phones support band 71. What a bummer. If you're on T-Mobile, I would not get this phone.

hmm, 07 May 2019https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9642&idP... moreYou don't go to Pixels because of performance. You go for the camera. The A40 is no match in this aspect.

What's the point of a tall screen if they're gonna keep the big bezels?

The alternative at good prices are Xiaomi that have some good cameras at the price of these phones with bigger batteries, better SoCs, etc. And soon the A3, the Redmi flagship, etc. So worth waiting a bit to compare all them before spend money.

If you want compact then Samsung A40 is basically close to SD670 cpu but maybe not that good on cpu. I dont know much about it. Just see options are better and close to same on A40 then 3a. So whats so magic about pixel 3a ? that it cost over 100 euro more while is bigger with smaller battery and screen size. Pay over 100 euro for pixel just for the brand name and license for stock android ?

Sebstin, 07 May 2019151mm? omg.. who designed this small / compact phone? LOL..... moreMy sentiments exactly. They can't even make it the same size as the Pixel 3. This Pixel 3a doesn't make any sense. People who don't care much about size will buy the Pixel 3a XL but those looking for a compact phone won't buy the Pixel 3a. If only they made it as compact as the Galaxy s10e or the Xs by trimming the bezels (especially that chin that seems to be thicker than the forehead), then this could've ruled the compact midrange segment. But sadly, that's not the case. And they could've just added expandable memory since these are midrange phones and speed is not their top priority, especially with these older chipsets (when new ones are already available).
