    This "compact" phone would have been considered a phablet a few years ago. What a joke!

    Also, a 6.1" 4K screen with a 3000mAh battery? Does Sony think I have an electrical socket in my a** to plug in all day?

    And no headphone jack? I might look for a used XZ1 compact...

        Phone got delayed until half April. XZ4 was going to be XZ3 with dual cam, got cancelled and then they made 1.

        Low ends = to keep marketshare
        Midranges = to keep marketshare
        Flagship = to bring money

        Except Apple, all other with high marketshare sell much more sub $300 devices than flagship. The reason two of them sell more than Apple but earn way less money.
        Amount of money per unit companies get with flagships are much more than they earn with midranges.

          Easy to understand..

          About the names, it could be related to their compact cameras.

          - RX0 is the rivel of Go Pro, the one that looks like a cube.
          - RX1 is a pocket cam with Full Frame sensor
          - RX10 is a 1" sensor and fixed lens camera, bigger body than rx1, its body reminds of those micro 4/3 from Panasonic
          - RX100 is a pocket cam with 1" sensor

            1 mm shorter than X Performance.
            Far from being compact.

            Being compact means being small, not "small" compared to current devices available.
            If it had size of iphone 8, I would agree.

            In 2017, the best seller among Xperia was XA1 Ultra, the biggest of them.

              It does nice photos runs everything fast and smooth as this Sony.
              Have lot of disk space nice 4GB ram, quickcharge and is IP68 certified.
              My phone have everything as Sony phone apart is smaller a bit but equally good.
              And redmi si same depends on which redmi. But with phones Like Poco1 is pretty comparable.

S10e is not c... moreWell you've got to compare it to something that's reasonably available and commercially succesful. Of course, when you compare phones to Palm Phone, then all of them will be considered huge, but it wouldn't be fair.

                  For the time being, Samsung made a huge step for the industry by making one of their flagships with height of 142mm, and I believe we should we grateful for that at least. Personally I'd be glad if we eventually moved down to size of XZ2, so around 130-140mm height (ith current bezel-less designs, a device with around 134mm height could easily fit in a 5.5" screen), but for the time being, I think it's fair to call devices with size like S10e legitimatelly compact.

                    This is not any compact, but regular flagship.
                    And Im quite interested in this one, as its a smaller version of Xperia 1.
                    Just might be my next phone, if its not over 700 eur or sth.

Last year alone, they introduce 3 flagship phones. XZ2, XZ2 Premium & XZ3. Sony did as their phones sells like hot cakes, when they are not. Then XZ2 Premium camera better than newer XZ3, makes customer hard to choose.

                          They should make XZ3 design with XZ2 premium camera in a one phone, omit the current XZ2 Premium, but keep the naming instead of XZ3. Sticks to 2 flagship per year. Pretty much as successful company such as Samsung S & Note series, Huawei P & Mate series.

                          Ditch the useless dynamic vibration & put bigger battery. That big vibrator eats space. If current Sony battery can achieve good life, bigger battery with their optimization will easily defeat other competition.

                                    not really compact then.
                                    I've had 2 generations of Sony Compact phones and if they made another one that was truly compact I'd get a third. but 6.1' is definitely not it.

                                      Look very nice

                                        "The dimensions are 158 x 68.3 x 8.3 mm, which while longer is narrower than the Samsung Galaxy S10e, so we can finally expect another compact flagship from Sony." - S10e's dimensions are 142.2 x 69.9 x 7.9 mm, so the Xperia X2 is merely 1.6mm thinner, BUT a whopping 16mm taller, so it's comparing apples and oranges. A phone taller than 150mm is NOT compact by a longshot.

                                        I still respect Sony's decision to leave the tabletoid size orgy (something that OnePlus has absolutely failed with its 6.67 OP7 pro) and start focus on making phones instead of phablets, but it's a long way "down" if they want a compact device.
