eu, 20 May 2019A step in the right direction. China has stolen technology... moreApple makes their crap there to, same for Motorola, Nokia & more this is not gonna fix ANYTHING! If anything it made it worse for the consumer since we now have less options if all the Chinese brands are banned from Android, that will leave us with only costly options that not all can afford. Even worse is Google is pulling the security updates for all current Huawei devices that is in the hands of consumers which is anti-consumer further proving that the USA only does this to protect Motorola & Apple, once Huawei, BBK, Xiaomi & ZTE is making their own OS or OSs we can expect a 3 party system if the Chinese companies are smart about this and is working together! If they make OSs if they are all forks of open-source parts of Android side-loading apps without Google-services is a option tough I am not sure it will be a hit... V-V

Anyway even if Honor still qualifies for sale, I'm sure Don Aldo El Trumpet will fix this mistake and ban Honor and every possible subsidiary of Huawei.

AnonD-558092, 20 May 2019New software updates must be approved by Google. That means... moreThat's unless they somehow circumvent the certification process or separate security patches from the core firmware. Not sure how it would work, but that's perfectly possible.

I saw their statement. Honestly that's a bad situation and it's definitely an unfair way to kill a company. Huawei depends on tons of American products, licenses, components and patents. I don't like Huawei but giving a government the right to kill a company like this is immoral. Even more when the company in question isn't even under the jurisdiction of the said government!

To be fair, China has been oppressing foreign companies in their homeland (us included) like uber, amazon, etc. They didn't strictly ban them, but rather giving unfair advantage to local company to compete with foreign company while giving more burden to said foreign company. Not to mention how many foreign comoany trade secret being leak in China. Apple is one of the company that still kicking in Chin for obvious reason.

I still think that it is a strategic communication "war".
At worse, I guess that, a compromise will be found. Like maybe Google who will still feed Huawei Phones (already on the market) with apps/security updates.

As a owner of a Huawei Phone, if this ever happens, that won't urge me to buying Apple if the strategy behind is to increase incomes for them...It is even the opposite.

They are seriously thinking that people still see Huawei as a danger for the private life? Maybe for close-minded people inside the US, but I can tell you that outside the US, everyone knows that Google, Facebook, Amazon, Apple siphon their data as well...
                          This is ridiculous.

I don't think that it is so smart for the long-term...Maybe they will put Huawei into a complicated situation (even if, not to forget that Huawei will still sell millions of phones in China and India where 3 billion live...), but mostly users from occidental countries.
They will just increase the angriness of oriental people and also of the people from occidental who own a Huawei phone and who paid consequent money to get it.

Dolanescu, 20 May 2019First, look at the people living in this communist country.... moreIt's a most last thing any union or country to do is TRUST Russia. It's the worst mistake you will ever do. Russia is even worse then USA. Contracts expire for Russia as soon as it feels like it to them. I know it as Russia is my neighbor country and we were occupied by them and cities were leveled by them for the reason just to make it Russia by occupying people to Siberia and replacing them with own people. The people who staid were forced to talk only in Russian or got shot. Russia is the worst of the worst countries of the world. If they feel like it then they take your land and nobody is doing anything Like In Crimea where they just sent in there green army without the russian flazg on them and made the country to there own by voting yes or yes and that was it when all the voters were the green army of theres. They have no business in any of other country but they make it there business. Like removing old soviet statue made Riot in Estonia and cyber attacks.

New software updates must be approved by Google. That means your Huawei phone won't get any updates in the foreseeable future due to Trumpet's order. Otherwise the updates will lack Play Services and the Play Store

This will create legitimate concerns by Chinese OEMs on using American products in the future. No doubt Google and other companies that sell to them is lobbying everything to get this fixed.
