I never update and never felt the need to. People complain of all sorts of problems after updates all the time. Yet they still can't wait to do it. The definition off insanity...

This article claims that not getting a major OS makes it not last longer.....

This is an interesting claim seeing how large the fragmentation on android is with tonnes of people still on nougat..

All while phones getting updates sometimes get bricked or slowed down artificially.

I don't care about google updates after lollipop its very minor updates from google instead I would love a google free phone that does not spy on me all the time

keeping my mate 20 pro. and i wont lie, im kind of looking forward to this new OS if it ever launch. tho, im not with China, I definitely despise trump's actions.

I am definitely getting a P30 Pro if it is around, say $500...will keep it as a secondary phone.
It does have a fantastic camera!

Since the existing devices will not affected, I will continue to use until it shows signs of aging

Even 950XL got some value if there is someone working on OS, even if not the same as intended. W10 on Lumia is for example running smooth, calls and all besides camera for now.
First phone to shoot milky way won't end up worse...

Huawei is making gr8 phones & hardware wise they r sound but software will take 3 yrs and then i think many companies r going to go that way currently there are how many smartphone softwares android and ios, there can be more if few companies make together & all have so much money & people to do so

[deleted post]Yep, i'd have no problem with a phone without google apps, i'd even have much more battery life.
I do have a problem with lack of headphone jacks, however.
Besides, Huawei's problem right now is mostly the Arm license, not the OS. So the question is will they be able to manufacture any kind of smartphone.

Never had one and wouldn't accept one for free lol

Anonymous, 26 May 2019I was thinking along the same lines. But instead of relying... moreAlso to add ensure that the new OS and App store are non Huawei affiliated, it should be a group effort. Once the OS and app store are that big that they cover 30/40% of global smartphone market (like Huawei, BBK and Xiaomi do), Google would be wise to list their apps on this new App store by default (they list their apps on iOS store which is probably only 15% global market).

"And even if you weren’t planning on selling it, it won’t get the next major OS upgrade, meaning you may have to get a new phone sooner." Why, just why should anyone have to get a new phone sooner just because they don't be getting the next OS upgrade? Android Pie is already a great OS and I bet the next two OS upgrades won't bring much, at least not enough to justify buying a new phone for. Any Huawei flagship that came out in the last two years will still be relevant for the next two years (their hardware, battery and camera are top of the line). Plus I'm sure Huawei's OS won't be that bad either. I'm sticking with Huawei, the first retailer that'll sell the P30 Pro for 400€ (because that's the maximum I'm willing to give for a phone), I'm buying.

But instead of relying on Android Open Source develop a new OS together with other OEM's. So the new OS runs on all Chinese brands as well as entice foreign OEM's like LG/Sony etc to use it. Entice with lower royalties/fees to OEM's and App developers to list their apps on the new App store that comes with the OS. Similar to what Epic is doing to Steam.

I bet those who voted jumping ship don't even have a Huawei.

Well I'd get onto this opportunity to get a 2nd hand P30 Pro at rock bottom price.

In my opinion, the Huawei ban is most likely used as a leverage for the China trade as trump is losing approval ratings and wants to boost his popularity as "the one who made a great deal with China and crippled them" for the 2020 election hoping to get re-elected

People talking about prices dropping. I've seen no evidence of this in the UK
