Asus Zenfone 6 in for review

26 May 2019
As other makers are dropping features and increasing prices, Asus may have delivered the actual "flagship killer".

Anonymous, 27 May 2019I partly agree with you. LEts summarise mho: 1. Huwaei is ... moreThat was the comparison I had access to, but the Zenfone has a quarter of P30s real resolution. The View 20's camera, for example, has almost the same resolution as P30 and is priced the same as Zenfone 6, and it still has double the Zenfone resolution at least. How do you defend this?

I can't buy on promises of future fixes, I need to see it before buying, because I pay real money, not promises.

I don't know what Gcam is and how/if it works, but maybe it will be a solution if I see some reporting on it.
In the end, I won't buy until I see some decent samples out of it.

GSMArena, when you post that some phone is in for review please state when the review should be expected, otherwise it becomes annoying to check for it every day.

Markuss, 27 May 2019this should be price around 350 to 450 USD since it has LCD... moreIt fully depends on what you are looking for.
If just going for a 8-series cpu and nothing else is important, then by all means, Poco or Redmi or wahtever can be "better value".
But those devices arent even trying to offer value outside of the performance itself.. even if they use amoled, the quality will be an inferior one - we saw it clearly on Poco F1 which used a pretty bog standard lower quality IPS.

Asus and Poco/Redmi - are trying to do different things! For different users.

Andy93, 26 May 20199.2mm is too thick though. The battery size isn't an excuse... moreAt least ASUS made a million times better job than that particular phone made by a bad brand which is 11.1mm thick but only puny 3180mAH battery.

Notsure, 26 May 2019https://www.androidauthority.com/asus-zenfone-6-camera-revi... moreI partly agree with you. LEts summarise mho:
          1. Huwaei is the king of current flagship phone photography. No dispute about that. Agree 100% , and anyone trying to prove the opposite is just dreaming
          2. Norwithstanding the statement above, and to be fair, the P30 Pro is $$$ far more expensive (25% MORE)
          3. Additionally, the ZF6 has JUST being released. There's already an update which theoretically improves the camera, so expect it to perform much better
          4. Gcam availability
Neverhteless imho no matter what, it will NEVER be up to P30 Pro standard, but please refer to comment #2

[deleted post]Mate, you have hit the nail on the head with this statement..
They keep bitching for 1 stupid millimetre extra thickness vs the fantastic benefit of 1000 extra mA. Pfff..

Is it worthy for be my Mate 20's replacement?

                Who cares

All I can say is that I don't care how crap their camera is and I don't care how high risk the mechanical camera is.

All I want for a flagship is cheap, latest Snapdragon flagship chip, Hybrid or Dual and Dedicated slot, headphone jack with extras like DTS:X or even a DAC, notification light and it basically has it all.

You have IPS LCD computer monitors. Lemme channel the inner Blizzard in me. Don't you guys have IPS LCD monitors? It looks good and it still looks good on phones. I want a screen for clarity and popular AMOLED with PenTile is not clear. If only RGB AMOLED is more prevalent.

this should be price around 350 to 450 USD since it has LCD and all-in-one camera. I think they can't beat the poco2 or redmi k20.

LCD on a flagship in 2019? That's the only letdown. Should have gone for an AMOLED....

How much does OIS even add to the costs? 3 dollars? I'm sure they could gave fit that in their budget AND physical restrictions in placement.

Anonymous, 26 May 2019LCD, no thanks !Any reason for no Thanks?

Seems like this summer, this phone is going to be the one to beat. ASUS has pulled off a stunner here. And I've made my peace with motorized cameras since i don't even use the selfie cam.

Cannot wait for this review. I thought the P30 would be my next phone but with all the issues Huawei has with the US government this could easily take its place.
