TSMC will continue making chips for Huawei

23 May 2019
This means that Kirin chipsets and Balong modems can still be manufactured. But Huawei has no phones to put them in.

yeah, USA is a BIG BULLY, just like Apple trolling Samsung with it's silly patent....

Walter C. Dornez, 24 May 2019Not like they could. Huawei did say they were working with ... moreIt's normal that they try to knock all easier doors first, but they have been working in "Hongmeng" OS (code name not the commercial they'll use) for 7 years, so even if they change their architecture of SoC to Risc-V, for example, something very probable, port that OS to the new architecture will take a lot less time that design a complete new one.

They already has their own OS for smartwatches with its own developer API you can use to develop apps for their watches and it is "Open Source" and is called "LiteOS":
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LiteOS
    https://github.com/LiteOS

So they could choose to follow the same way against Android which will give them even more credibility against those who try to sink them and don't have other alternative that do it and create their own ecosystem including a network of services and shops.

MadMel, 24 May 2019Google didn't do a thing for Huawei, don't make things up.Not like they could. Huawei did say they were working with Google though

Let's see how capable Huawei is in face of adversity.

Im sure it will be a good future for Huawei no matter what will happen from all of Trump's puppets.
And as other times this clown attacks Huawei, he will get the bommerang back in his little greasy head.

I really praying for Huawei release their own OS soon, could be so nice with some new stuff and King Kong know how to get success, we have seen that last couple years.
I now have a Huawei and because of all this, my next phone will be a Huawei to, nit becaude i dont like other brands, but only because Trump shall not decide what smartphone i like to use.

ARM cutting partnership with them means Huawei will be forced to create a SoC design entirely of their own with little to no reference from ARM's design, which in turn means they could produce even more powerful chipsets than perhaps even Apple's A series!
Turn this pressure into an opportunity to bite back....being affected heavily is an option, but should NEVER be a settling ground for them to stop their pursuits.

They'll have some margin of time to develop their own independent designs and operating systems. The question is if they'll be success at time or not. Not only acomplishing it plus get enough sales, etc. But in China they'll have enough big business for sure, then they'll have start again to gain global market from the base they'll still remain out there. Somethig we will watch in few years if they achieve to do at global scale.

Now this is a good friendship between companies, TSMC could have just cut ties with Huawei entirely but they chose to continue working with them. Same as Google who have been trying their best to help Huawei despite regulations. This might actually not turn out that badly after all.
