MediaTek is waving at Donald Trump.Americans are quick at accusing other countries of market protectionism, but that's how they use their own patent office, and claims that they have patents on everything. This is the reason you'll never see MediaTek phones sold in the U.S., because of this type of market protectionism.
If you want to sell your phone in the U.S., you gotta pay Qualcomm, that's the way things are set up.

Sounds good. 2nd 5G modem announced with 2G-4G integrated following Huwei's Balong 5000. Qualcomm's X55 might not be on phones until 2020
